Rundown: rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Because it's jarring and ruins the experience for me. Would you stick with a book if the author kept switching between different narrative perspectives every page?

i would not. that really helped put it in perspective, thank you. i've been dead fortunate to have had some awesome partners whose writing style matches mine exactly.

You're welcome, and thank you for being one of the nicer anons here. I've also been lucky that my partners share my writing preference. It's understandable why some players prefer their style over mine and I have accepted that we may not be able to reach an agreement, though once in a blue moon I luck out with someone willing to take turns on the format used.

Sometimes people write in brackets the same way they'd write in prose. Not saying you personally shouldn't find it jarring, but there is not necessarily other differences in the writing style.

So for that reason, I could stick with a book like that.

i wouldn't drop someone just for not matching styles, but i'd sideeye and tread cautiously if they were doing so without asking or me giving any indication that people can use whatever style they want. for me it's more an indicator of someone who'll do whatever they want regardless of whether it's out of place or bothers anyone. the kind of people who do that shit are oftentimes the same kind of people that are wildly OOC and don't give a shit what anyone says, or the kind of people who do plots that clash hard with whatever's going on in a game and don't care if they're spoiling the mood of a happy holiday event with their surprise murder plot.
