Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

there are two main problems in dwrp: the insularity, and the mod/player burnout.

i don't think the insularity problem can really be fixed because dreamwidth is a dead end site that's unlikely to pull a bigger fandom presence than it has right now. the same thing is happening to jcink games and insanejournal games.

the mod/player burnout issues could be fixed, though. we might not attract new players but at least we could slow the steady loss of old players. people have drifted away from the hobby because of the wank, the short lifespan of most games, the difficulty of getting a game off the ground in the first place, the excessive mod expectations, the lack of variety in games (caused by the aforementioned factors), the depressing lack of actual rp on bakerstreet outside of tfln and a handful of other memes, plurk drama, the difficulty of getting cr in many games without plurk, etc. all of that is on top of unavoidable life commitments like work and family. nobody wants to sink a lot of time and energy into rp when it can be so hard to get actual rp out of it.

so idk, maybe it's a good thing that dwrp seems to be adapting to a smaller community. maybe we can't support a dozen memes every day anymore. maybe we can't sustain the kinds of games that take a whole team of mods just to stay on top of apps and ac anymore. private games aren't good because they're private, they're good because they can be easily managed by a single mod.

we already attract new players. i don't know why everyone always says we don't. it's not a flood, but it's constant. i'm in psls right now with three people who are new to dw, and i didn't go looking for them, i ran into them on bs and emp and found out they came from tumblr/mmorp. it's just a matter of people finding out we exist.
