Context: a wanky RPer I knew from DWRP turned out to be kin with one of the characters they played. Thus fictionkin became the topic of discussion between me and someone else this jackass burned, and then we found fictionkinfessions, and... laughter is all we can do to stay sane.

most of them aren't trolls, they're just kids. hot take i guess but i don't really understand the shit they get. if you're a 30 year old kinnie that's pretty weird sure but idk i don't see the harm in a 14 year old pretending to be an animu to cope with trauma. or even just life in general, shit pm sucks for gen-z on the whole

clearly you've never been harassed by an army of obnoxious teens hell bent on a smear campaign against you calling you ableist because you wouldn't enable their delusions of being a fictional character. and the most annoying part is they all have like eight accounts each because their "alts" all totally count as separate people that need their own accounts, so you have roughly a million more accounts to block to get any peace.

they don't get shit for playing pretend. *we* play pretend. they get shit for acting like their pretendy funtime is a serious issue that deserves the same respect as shit like gender identity and throwing massive fits and trying to ruin people's lives if they don't go along with it.

i mean yeah that sucks but they're still children lmao of course they operate in absolutes and overreact to shit. idk i've never made a real effort to avoid kinnies in any kind of fandom space and i've still never run across them in any meaningful way so to me it doesn't seem that hard

you would have a similar experience if you went into she-ra tag on twitter or tumblr and called she-ra shit. or @'d BTS and said their music was crap like limmy did. or said on instagram that everyones stick and pokes are dangerous and ugly as fuck

you'd still be right in all of these cases but you're still asking for the shit thats going to be flung your way

funny, I've been on the internet in all of these kinnie-adjacent spaces for 10+ years and I've never had a problem with them. what were you doing before you started getting "harassed"?

I've been in kin-adjacent spaces for about as long and followed some fanartists who were kinnies. zero problems.

i was dealing with a conflict completely unrelated to kin shit with someone i didn't even know. they'd scammed people out of money and tried using said kin shit to divert attention from their scamming, screaming that i was ableist because i implied their alt account wasn't an entirely separate person while pointing out evidence of their scamming on the different accounts. i ignored it to just keep talking about the actual issue while they and all their friends spammed me with all their accounts and tried spreading around that i was some awful ableist for not respecting their kin/system identities.

a lot of the same people had harassed a friend of mine endlessly over "problematic" shipping too. that wasn't related to the kin stuff but these kids overlap extremely heavily with the purity culture kiddos, probably because it suits them to be able to shout anything and anyone they don't like down as somehow ableist/abusive/predatory/___phobic/whatever.

i don't engage with these people at all where i can avoid it, and it's not like i've stumbled into shit like this frequently. lots of people can manage to avoid it entirely if they just stay off the radar. but it doesn't make it any less obnoxious for the people that do get stuck dealing with it.

so you

1) got involved with drama that didn't even have any impact on you (sounds like you weren't personally scammed)

2) made it personal by bringing their "kin shit" into it even though the issue wasn't related to it and mocked them

3) make assumptions about these people based on how you think they operate because there's "overlap" with certain groups

4) act like you're "stuck" dealing with it when you can just, you know, walk away at any time instead of bringing it up to complain about them

yeah really sounds like you were totally harassed out of nowhere and you're really the victim here mmmhm
