Story Memes with Continuity?

A sort of series of memes with continuity?

Like, I remember back at dear-player when the mayan apocalypse was supposedly going to happen, in which there was a Moon from Zelda: Majora's Mask that posted every day. It got all characters suddenly comically messing around in chaos and terror, until the final day in which they joined forces and brought the moon back to its normal place.

Obviously no blank top levels should be allowed, and I figure it could be some sort of setting meme that deliberately notes it will be an ongoing meme storyline that goes from day to day (or week to week, to give the players more time to post), responding to the actions of the characters or simply posting the things that happen in that meme.

Could it be a compromise to the lack of mods and new games we're facing? They can be short-themed "games" in which players can go in and act as they want with their characters, with minimal mod input, but putting out a story depending on how it goes.

I have a lot of game ideas I've had in the past that I've had to let go of, because I do not have the time nor the courage to mod, but memes with an ongoing storyline could be a fun compromise.

I’ve thought of doing this for a dystopian-themed game with a travel setting, actually! Plot posts would be every couple of weeks, with links back to the previous “chapters”.

My only hesitation is the time investment and asshole players being assholes even in memeland.
