God damn this has brought out the grade-A nerdrage. Blizz seems to be implying that the nelves are all but extinct, and people are freaking out in response to it.

Of course, like someone pointed out, Golden's really bad with the scale of things in the game, like writing as if you could actually walk from one zone to another in little time or that Arthas invaded Silvermoon with "hundreds" of soldiers. I doubt we've seen the end of the Night Elves in the story, despite what people seem to be thinking.

Do you really think Blizzard gives two shits about a race they've literally reduced to hobos sleeping on the streets of Stormwind? The dwarves at least gave the gnomes their own section of Ironforge. The humans couldn't even do that.

the hobos even take turns crying. meanwhile the worst the humans ever got was that deathwing destroyed part of stormwind. not even the whole city.

In all seriousness, yes we have. Aside from maybe having a role in defeating Azshara, it's clear the nelves are pretty much out of the picture. They didn't really spread out and settle elsewhere in Azeroth; the vast majority stayed in Darnassus or the lands close to. Not counting our player-characters there's a handful of them left.

They decimated them and reduced the survivors to beggars on the streets of Stormwind, all because Blizz refuses to let anything bad happen to the humans. They've always jacked off to the "unlimited potential" of humans, and that's not going to change anytime soon.

The tie-in books also say that the nelves began evacuating in advance. They knew the Horde was coming and unlike the in-game questline where they barely put up a fight, they were engaging in all manner of skirmishes with the Horde in order to buy time for those fleeing. So chances are that a decent amount of nelves actually did survive.

Also in the novellas Tyrande actually does something beyond showing up to just grab Malfurion and fuck off to Stormwind.

It's just a shame that they fail to convey any of this in-game.

no big surprise. most of the actual lore is in the books now rather than in-game.

game's kind of like the cliff notes version of what's going on. if you really want to get the full picture, you have to read the novels and comics too.

One of the WoWhead admins was justifying the lack of in-game lore with "Well, people don't even read the quest text!".

I never really liked Perculia. She's got that same obnoxious "Tee-hee, I'm a girl gamer!" vibe that most guild princesses do.
