The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. 1. how many years have you been on dw/lj? About 10 years.
2. what keeps you here? Community generally has the same standards and stances as me on things that could be divisive. The format is familiar, so the idea of moving to a new site or format sounds overwhelming - I'm so used to this one that how to use it is ingrained in me, haha. And even though sometimes it can feel stagnant when you don't have anything going on, in theory I know the solutions to that sort of thing. I know how to navigate games and memes and how to socialize ooc here without stepping on toes.
3. do you rp on any other sites? Not consistently. I'm not sure how to 'break in' and there's also a big part of it that's more my own fault. Since I'm new to other sites, I'll straight up forget about them, which means I sabotage my own attempt at integrating. Oops.
4. if so, which ones? I've tried Tumblr RP and in desperate times I've tried Facebook RP at the invitation of a friend. Both have much more active RPers from my favored canon.
5. if yes to 3, which is your favorite? Out of the two, Tumblr RP seemed more promising, but neither were really my style.
6. why? Tumblr RP provides a lot more aesthetic flexibility. Even though Tumblr isn't designed in a way that's particularly conducive to RP, Facebook is even less so. I think Tumblr allows it to be a lot more flexible, which is appealing because it means I could RP how I want. On the other hand, while I could still write however I like on FB, there's a lot more constraints of both the site design and its policy. FB has active RP networks, but they're all constantly getting banned because fictional character accounts break the rules, so when there's drama people end up reporting each other's accounts. Which is kind of hilarious, but only from a distance. But neither really jived with me.

1. since like 2005, and then the great lj migration brought me to dw
2. it's the most consistent and quality RP I can find, tumblr seems weird and I don't know where else to try really

2. The community and the RP, the game and posting format work well for me. I've known some people since I started RPing on LJ. I do miss the fandom community outside of the RP circle, though, and having a more active meme and dressing room scene. I go to other sites for fandom stuff but not really RP stuff.

3. no, and tbh if journal rp here died i'd just stop rping entirely instead of trying to switch, because i have no interest in forum rp, chat rp, or tumblr rp. maybe i'd go over to insanejournal to see if they had any panfandom games.

2. not sure anymore. I'm not a fan of games and memes are so Representative and empty in comparison to what they used to be. I think I'm still here for the anon sites for entertainment/fandom talk and the occasional opportunity to play something I really want to write in a PSL but even those writing partners often tend to be very slow tag-wise.

6. the tumblr format is messy but x-kit cleans up most of it. The tagging speeds are much faster and there are more writers from the fandoms I enjoy rping to choose from. Mostly there's just a much wider variety both of writers and writing ideas and since I'm all about PSLs over games its a pretty easy pick-up.

1. how many years have you been on dw/lj? 11 or 12 rping, used a personal lj for a good handful of years before that.
2. what keeps you here? habit, preference for the format, social outlet. i feel like i'm definitely falling out of the hobby though in general.

4. if so, which ones? i started out hmmmm 2005-2006? 2007 even, rping on message board forums like proboards before we started drifting to lj. i'm tempted to give tumblr rp a try but i hate the format so much and i'm finding i barely have time for dwrp anymore as it is. i get the impression tumblr rp is faster or i'd have to sift through a lot of shit first before i find players who match my speed. why bother when i already know who matches me here on dw?
5. if yes to 3, which is your favorite? i did have a real good time on proboards back in the day.
6. why? my favorite thing about it was not having to worry about backdating or feeling like you're constantly playing catch-up in the plot. everything happened on a unified time. the closest any lj/dw game ever game to replicating that was probably trans9 with their "bendy time". still not quite the same though. on proboards everything happened on a unified time. like our characters were all over the world in their own pockets doing their own thing. after about 4-5 months furiously mashing our keyboards and writing out all these fun exciting things, we were like "hey shouldn't it be like... night now in the game? maybe we should all agree to move game time forward?" so we did, but we never ironed out a concrete schedule before our game petered out. i guess it would have been like a 1 ic day = 4 ooc months kind of schedule, which probably sounds insane to dwrp, but it was really fun and let us focus more on the content of our stories and dramas instead of who would be around at what times to participate in them.
