thanks to ubiquitous tropes about older grizzled dudes (hero or...clooney/geere/grey but accomplished types in romcoms) getting hot much younger girlfriends, and also the fact that nurturing and mentoring are kinds of intimacy that a lot of people want for themselves and in their fantasies

literally any surrogate father/daughter type relationship in media, especially if it's vague or not explicitly called that, will be a big shipping draw.

some people will read that as romantic every time, because that's what they're into. it squicks the hell out of me, I don't bother them because ship and let ship, but asking "Is it shippy or is it familial?" doesn't really make sense. The answer is Yes.

I was about to say at least the actress for Mantis looks late twenties at the youngest (and is actually in her early thirties) even if the character is sheltered but holy shit actor for Drax is nearly fifty.

That heavy make up really disguises his age, I thought he was in his early fourties before I saw his normal face and birthdate.
