It's a different CR issue. I've got plenty of tags; it just feels like I'm not making any meaningful relationships. It kinda sucks seeing people talking about how much they love their threads and how well their characters mesh together.

I'll get there eventually, though. I just gotta keep working at it and keep tagging out.

i included the check-in for march, sorry i didn't make that clearer. each month is the ac for that specific month (so april's ac that was posted at the beginning of may, not march's that was posted at the beginning of april, hence why i don't have may 2018 on there)

I really want to play a character but I keep getting mired in the old “but what if this isn’t IC enough” boondoggle. Shut up brain nobody cares

Don't have them get into bullshit mcu cast drama and then try to drag in other characters as props for it. I've played in games where they would tag other people but only if they were pulling them in as part of their inter-cast conflicts where it was so much about their characters that it was boring. They also would do it in situations where other people maybe didn't want a big dramatic thing. I don't want to list a specific example because I didn't hate the players and don't want to call them out, plus it's happened more than once, so hypothetical pretend example:

Character A reveals they've got some kind of problem that makes them dangerous, like a parasite or power, but they want to get help. Steve and Tony agree Character A is dangerous but disagree on how to handle it. Tony argues for something to control Character A that's kind of a dick move, Steve argues for something less severe but kind of paternalistic and still controlling in another way like Character A is a child when they're a grown adult. Steve and Tony decide to civil war about it and try to drag other characters into what is ultimately more about their boyfriend spat than about Character A. Character A's player reluctantly doesn't interfere because everything escalated very quickly and they don't want to tell them how to play their characters but really just wanted Character A to get help and maybe find friends that care about them.

A lot of MCU players play them with that kind of self-absorbed behavior. It's reasonable to allow it to happen to a degree if it's IC, since some of the characters are canonically short-sighted but don't let it become all-consuming and don't expect other players to have their characters care about any mcu dick-measuring spats. Tagging out and not being cliquish are a given, but most importantly of all, when you do that, have them care about other people's problems at least sometimes like heroes should. It's not entirely OOC for Marvel people to care about their own interpersonal conflicts but in the scope of their canon, those are their peers. If exposed to outside peers who are not embroiled in the dramatics of their world, they'd reach out a little, too. They'd care about helping people. They'd care about their struggles. They'd respect if those other characters shut down any infighting over their issues because it's not all about the mcus and their civil warring.

They're good people at heart. Taking them out of their world would realistically make them less insular, not more self-absorbed. If the game involves some conflict where people are in danger and there are more personalities involved in figuring things out it'd most likely rattle them out of their usual patterns, just like fighting Thanos made them shove most of their personal drama to the side because it was so world-shaking. Part of the problem with mcus is even when they tag out they still drag everyone into their dramatics and it's such a railroady yawn. Since the casts are often large it becomes all-encompassing.

Also, all this depends on who you play. A lot of people are more okay with characters like Spidey bc he doesn't drag people into drama. Or T'challa, who at the end point of his movie was canonically looking outside Wakanda at what he could do to help the world more. Some MCU's are canonically less self-centered than others. People don't mind them as much.

lmfao same. i actually make notes/outlines as well as my drafts in my ao3 drafts, which auto-delete after a month, so i can light a fire under my own ass to finish them faster....

a handful of characters, but playing them without at least a little cast either is hard or just kind of feels like it's missing something. that's pretty much self inflicted when 3/4ths of your roster is sans, one of the kids, and a character who might as well be fanon though, so i'm not overly bitter, just

kind of wistfully nostalgic for when the canon was a newshiny, i guess? though like anons above i also kind of skirted clear of the excessively grimdark-focused people. like i get it, it's there, it's in the canon, and it is fun to play with, but a focus on it at exclusion of a lot of the rest of the lighter toned stuff in the game seems, well, like it's lacking something. bittersweet chocolate is nice, bitter bitter is just eh, you know?

Not really. He got hammered and got in a fight that blew up half his house when he was dead certain he was dying of heavy metal poisoning in IM2, but while you could certainly read him as having a drinking problem and it would be a valid interpretation of what we see on screen, it isn't actually explicit text in the movies. It is in the comics.

some people just get deeply butthurt and bitter over anything that's more popular than their favorite thing. ignore the anon bitching, play who you want, and have fun. you're never going to please everyone, and you'll just make yourself miserable trying.

i have no desire to return to the time when undertale was the shiny of the week. it was literally inescapable, thoroughly obnoxious, and turned what was an okay, but otherwise negligible game for me into a nightmare. every flake i knew of played from it and predictably, every flake has dropped off.

I wish I could RP from more canons. I tend to stick to one for a long time, while the person who played from my canon goes from new canon to new canon.

I'm honestly not expecting stellar writing quality, just something quick and chill and low pressure.

Regionalisms aren't 'wrong', they're regional differences. Language elitism is one of the lamest forms of elitism, specifically because it's almost always based on the opposite of what actual linguists say.

There's no harm in private messaging the account to ask how they handle it.
