I wouldn't mind giving something like that a go! I'd been looking at early canon stuff because I've only been playing Steve for.... 2 weeks? we're having the opposite happen. Two days ago it was down in the 70s. In Florida. In practically June. At least we're finally getting our rain but still - its been a super weird year for weather down here.

I'm new to this fandom and don't have enough psls to meet my thirst, so here I am. I'm looking for a Rean to my Crow and/or a Jusis to my Gaius, but I'd enjoy other pairings with them as well. If you like AUs that's a big bonus as I'd love to do some shipping in wild settings/situations!

I'm up for memes or long-term PSLs, but I prefer ship building and plots over smut without context, so I'd like to work up to any porn. Thanks!

Guys, I would like to solicit some advice, please.

What is the best way to go about a pvp system in a game setting, do you think? I'm all ears.

I will say before anyone suggests it, I'm aware of some of the pitfalls of dice rolls in that sometimes they don't make sense, so there would be a bit fat asterisk on that so you don't get, like, pipimi steamrolling ganondorf.

that said, trying to apply game rules to freeform RP is a fool's errand. best thing to do is agree ahead of time who will win, comparing relative power levels if necessary and deciding if there's a chance of a random upset. if all else fails, flip a coin.

I just kind of like it when everybody getting accepted can hang out and get to know each other/discuss some possible CR ideas for a little while before a new game starts. I've been in a couple games at start and if you don't know anybody, it can be kind of intimidating to just jump into an intro log or something, and just not tagging until the cr meme goes up isn't ideal.

But like I said, that's just me, it's not a total dealbreaker or anything. I'm still excited either way!

go do some fortanon memes. Specifically ones like the 'Ask me Anything' and 'Help Me Please' ones where instead of character name and canon you'd post something about the character. It's way easier to tag people you don't recognize and way easier for people to tag you

if you come up with something interesting people will tag you. I get tons of tag for my more obscure characters this way

Have you never seen complaints about how it's difficult to voicetest a new character when none of your friends care for that (rare) fandom?

Do you go and tell all of them that "you must suck as a writer if you can't get even one of your friends to rp with you"?

been playing from it for about two years now in some games some memes. getting a cast is basically impossible now but i'm also one of the few people that doesn't just play sans or the kids, so. i keep hopin'

I'm not an expert but my coworker (immediate team) had a cochlear implant so there's some things we make sure to do to make stuff easier for her.

- When you address a Deaf/HOH person you speak directly to them, not to their interpreter, if they have one. This is both polite and makes it easier for them to read lips.

- When someone's communicating DO NOT BLOCK THE LINE OF SIGHT TO THE INTERPRETER/WHO THE DEAF PERSON IS LIPREADING. This happens all the time and is super frustrating.

- You don't need to speak slowly but you do need to speak clearly for someone who is lipreading you. My coworker sometimes asks me to repeat myself if I don't do this well enough, because she thought I said something insane. (Sometimes this can be especially hilarious.)

- Deaf/HOH people are especially sensitive to vibration. However, in loud/active places (such as an office) this can be overstimulating and it'll make it easier to focus if they're in a quieter place with less traffic. My coworker sits in a corner with her good ear facing the wall.

- One of the possible phone settings for "ring" includes the camera's flash blinking repeatedly. My coworker has her phone set on "flash" and sometimes gets messages from her husband. If I notice the flash, I've automatically gotten into the habit of checking to see whether she noticed it, and if not I'll tell her I saw her phone go off.

- It is entirely possible to NOT KNOW that someone is Deaf/HOH if they don't tell you. My coworker was so good at lipreading/catching when people were talking to her that it took several months for me to realize she had a a disability at all.

I suggest googling Deaf culture. If he's born Deaf you likely should be capitalizing the D.

There are things I could suggest but I'm not sure if they'd contradict your canon and would depend on how Deaf people are treated there. For instance Deaf people have a different sense of humor than hearing people and their conversations and tone can often come off as harsh because of it. Deaf people also make exaggerated facial expressions as part of communicating with other Deaf people/when using ASL. They might not do this with people who aren't Deaf but that's an individual thing. The same as whether or not a Deaf person verbalizes while signing is an individual thing.

but that said, i do agree that it can be and often is but i've seen it work to varying degrees i was just after the best way because im going to be running something with pvp, every knows there will be pvp, there will be no problem people, so i just want the best experience for all involved

i do really appreciate this input though and did consider it myself, thank you. i think in this case though im wondering how to like factor in those upsets because powerlevels are all well and good and important but i don't want to underrate ingenuity.

I was surprised when a streamer showed the results of favorite main character from the end game survey. Markus had 89% with Connor at 6% and Kara at 5%.

The Connor bits were fun to watch. It felt more like a cliche buddy cop movie with an android and I liked it for that and the investigation bits.

2. what keeps you here? Community generally has the same standards and stances as me on things that could be divisive. The format is familiar, so the idea of moving to a new site or format sounds overwhelming - I'm so used to this one that how to use it is ingrained in me, haha. And even though sometimes it can feel stagnant when you don't have anything going on, in theory I know the solutions to that sort of thing. I know how to navigate games and memes and how to socialize ooc here without stepping on toes.
3. do you rp on any other sites? Not consistently. I'm not sure how to 'break in' and there's also a big part of it that's more my own fault. Since I'm new to other sites, I'll straight up forget about them, which means I sabotage my own attempt at integrating. Oops.
4. if so, which ones? I've tried Tumblr RP and in desperate times I've tried Facebook RP at the invitation of a friend. Both have much more active RPers from my favored canon.
5. if yes to 3, which is your favorite? Out of the two, Tumblr RP seemed more promising, but neither were really my style.
6. why? Tumblr RP provides a lot more aesthetic flexibility. Even though Tumblr isn't designed in a way that's particularly conducive to RP, Facebook is even less so. I think Tumblr allows it to be a lot more flexible, which is appealing because it means I could RP how I want. On the other hand, while I could still write however I like on FB, there's a lot more constraints of both the site design and its policy. FB has active RP networks, but they're all constantly getting banned because fictional character accounts break the rules, so when there's drama people end up reporting each other's accounts. Which is kind of hilarious, but only from a distance. But neither really jived with me.

2. it's the most consistent and quality RP I can find, tumblr seems weird and I don't know where else to try really
