If it's working for you, don't worry about it.

That said, I made heavy use of the stamina stuff when I had low stamina (I've been to enough shrines now to have gotten it up to a respectable level) and the stuff that gives more hearts (or defense/attack buffs) when I'm getting ready to go for a big fight. I sell the stealth and speed stuff...and I cook that stuff because it sells for more rupees that I can use on Great Fairies or new armor or whatever.

honestly, i think if we had a fandom presence here, it'd solve most of the problems with the amount of people we've not got.

my rate of finding castmates has remained largely the same over the span of these 10 or so years i've been journal rping

I'm sure I'll like it when I get it, but I've been trying to avoid most spoilers so all I see is disconnected art and non-spoilery screencaps.

i prefer private rp on discord with close friends nowadays

in addition to above anon's advice, don't be afraid to compress fights. meaning, don't feel the need to write out every single punch or every single swing of a sword - if it's agreed that your opponent is likely to block and/or counter most of them before one lands, gloss over a few. like "a sequence of hits" or something. sticking to each individual hit one per tag drags fight scenes on over-long and is usually why people get bored with them.

really, unless you're fighting to show off every move, like in a first-time spar with a new opponent, or you need to drag it out because both fighters are OP and it would go on forever with gradual escalation, you can abbreviate the fight. so long as you accomplish your intention (my character gets a broken rib, yours gets a cut on the arm, mine loses the trinket he was protecting), the actual blow-by-blow can highlight the important moments and maybe one or two instances of badassery on both fighters' sides but doesn't have to be every single damn punch.

do people ever offer up OCs in the ATP/enable me threads? i'm curious since I have an OC I've been meaning to app someplace, only I can't choose. OBVIOUSLY not expecting the kind of bites canon muses with casts and players who are readily familiar with them, but I wonder if it's worth anything to see if their character-type pings anyone, or if anyone knows a place that might be suited to them

hope you don't mind me asking, but how does that work? do you boomerang back and forth or just reply as you want? I've never done chat based rp but have wondered if I could get into it one day.

we boomerang when we're both online! but you can probably work it either way, discord emails you when you get messages while offline (at least, it can, it does for me)

I doubt you'd be the first one. Often enough someone comes here to ask what games accept OCs, even if they don't do it logged in.

Me too! He's such a weird guy and he's been trying so hard. I hated Drakengard and only kind of liked Nier but I love Automata to pieces. Good for him. I hope this means he has the clout to make the games he's had in his head all this time.

About three years altogether, over skype and discord and plurk and the musebox. it's a shame they moved on and found another partner and a new OTP, because I sort of worry that I'll never find that sort of writer again. I sure as hell won't be able to play that ship anymore, because OCs.

i'd say stick to the humans.

if they go pre-mage storms, there's only two gryphons anywhere near valdemar, only a handful of kyree and even then only one of them would come anywhere near humans, only one firecat and he won't leave solaris' side, and the type of hertasi that live near valdemar don't speak to humans and do their best not to be seen by them if they can help it. it would be more than a bit difficult to explain them just hanging around the collegium, let alone attending or having attended in the past.

explaining the presence of tayledras, shin'a'in and even haighlei would be difficult enough, but trying to explain a kyree that isn't rris or warrl just wandering around the collegium would be too much of a pain in the ass, i would think.

i play from a popular mainstream canon yet it's still somehow impossible to find reliable castmates. idgi.

oh, and keyword: reliable. i do find castmates now and then on memes, but they always drop threads within a short time frame.

I know that feeling (about OC ships).
