The mysterious depths of his manly cave

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

how effective is the cochlear implant? does it sound clear? does it bother you? we're you born deaf?

wasn't born deaf, i lost my hearing when i was three years old to spinal meningitis, the biggest part of the cochlear implant that bothers me is having to get a new one every five or so years with technological improvement. it takes a lot of time to get used to the new ones because they add more sound input/depth to them and no one has the patience to work with me to get used to my new one.

sound isn't always clear, its very clear in person but on the phone/skype it can be kind of muddy. cochlear implants aren't effective for everyone but mine is effective enough that most people are genuinely surprised to hear that I'm deaf because they don't expect it. (I only advertise that I'm deaf when I can't hear other people or when people grow impatient because I ask them to repeat everything.)

something i just remembered while getting dressed; i hate that i cant wear cute skirts and dresses half the time because of my cohclear implant processor getting in the way. i have an older system that is bulky/doesn't fit behind the ear.

my new one fits behind the ear but interferes with my glasses
