ohhhh that's good taste. I'm still kicking myself for not going to a Margo Price concert when she was playing near me. Well, the big one is Maren Morris. she picked up a Best Country Solo Performance Grammy for the song "My Church" which was one of my faves. Brandy Clark's another artist I'd recommend.

Candi Carpenter is someone to watch out for. she's a bit less folkish than your picks and only has one single out, "Burn the Bed", but it's pretty amazing. she's def on my to-watch list.

also! if you haven't checked out Alison Krauss's new album, I'd def recommend doing so. it was released mid-January, I think, and is pretty amazing, imo.

my main fandom's having a meltdown, my rp partner's too busy to tag our psls this week, my game is on standby until the new event, and this is the second tagout i've done in two days that's gone ignored while the players blithely repost to new memes.

it's like life wants me to focus on rl priorities or something.

RE: OCs, i think the reception to OCs can really depend on where and what kind of rp you're looking to do. for example, if you want to play in a game, some games are known to be OC friendly, others less so, and some don't even allow OCs at all. you can ask around in communities like this what the game atmosphere is like re: OCs. what's really important is for you to have a write-up of your OC's personality, a distinct voice, and in games, having nice icons never hurt. playing in memes like bakerstreet can be really, really hit or miss (mostly miss) with OCs unless you're very proactive about tagging out

if you're looking to do one-on-one rp, or PSLs (private storylines), it's a lot more relaxed. for example, if you look at the "rp with me" or "kinks you want to play" threads linked above, people often say they offer both canon characters or OCs, or are willing to whip up an OC for this psl alone. as someone who does play a lot of OCs in PSLs, i don't actually have many "dedicated" OCs that i spend time developing on my own, but i create them depending on the scene i want to play and the dynamic i want to achieve in rp. i don't even have icons for these accounts, for the most part.

RE: MUSES, i would say most people in dwrp play multiple characters (muses), and that if you stick with only one character 100% of the time, it might even get you a bit of a side-eye if you also give off an ooc impression that you're REALLY SUPER invested this character. unlike tumblr (afaik), dwrp is extremely wary about blurring the ic/ooc line. just be sure to make a new dw account for each character-- using the same account for multiple characters isn't really done around here.

RE: ATMOSPHERE, i have never done rp on tumblr so i can't say how it compares, but i'd say people here also tend to be on the passive side, and we have a lot of oldbies who get entrenched in their usual rp groups and habits, so making an effort to reach out and be proactive is probably your best bet. that said, the people worth plotting with tend to respond really well to proactive plotters, and that's how i've personally got all my best threads-- hitting up total strangers or getting hit up by total strangers for rp. the worst that could happen is they turn you down or ignore your request, so what can you lose?

i don't see too many instances of thieves here, and when they do pop up (plaigiarism, selling stolen code etc.) they tend to get dragged pretty thoroughly. we have our fair share of toxic assholes, of course, but when they get really out of hand they also tend to get run out or ripped into

this is Reina from Fire Emblem Fates! there are a lot of things i didn't like about the games writing-wise, but the characters were nonetheless endearing and this lady became one of my faves (even though she's an Extra in the grand scheme of things). she's a sweet, caring woman who also happens to be incredibly sadistic and enjoys slaughtering her enemies! Reina's nice, she just has a..... weird obsession with death.

i haven't actually attempted playing her yet but i'm probably gonna bug one of my psl buddies later!

treat them like kids, not numbers. there is nothing shittier than knowing that you're only there but for the grace of a paycheck. or watching the family's actual kids get things that you don't. foster kids already feel like an outsider. if you're going to have foster kids and/or kids of your own, try really hard to treat them all the same. and for god's sake, don't shove them in the basement or place you wouldn't put your own kids. i know a lot of that seems like basic advice, but from the amount of people who lavish attention on their own kids and treat fosterlings like free slave labor, it's obviously not.

and maybe if they come to you with all their shit in a garbage bag (which happens a lot), spend a little extra on a backpack or something for if they have to move. nothing makes you feel more like trash than putting and carrying around all your worldly possessions in a garbage bag.

I've been unemployed for a very long time (aside from the random temp odd job). I have a foot problem that makes it excruciatingly painful to stand for long periods of time, so I need a job where I can sit. And I can't land one. Half the time it's because I'm not qualified enough, the other half I just get rejected without being told why or never called back. Family's providing me with food and shelter, but I have zero money for anything else.
