I have several characters who would never be comfortable with taking a child soldier with them on a mission. That's actually a pretty HUGE moral line for a character to cross if they aren't from a canon where child soldiers are apparently a totally normal thing.

I'd rather see a suitability section than a hard age cap. It's not like its a sex game and not all adults are going to be suitable for such a game either. I can get not trusting a child soldier right off the bat, but give the character a chance to prove themselves rather than lock them out.

i didn't say my character was FINE with the idea. of course they think those worlds are fucked up. i did say having to get used to it at first. but on the long run, conversation will be easier with those soldier kids. working will be easier with those kids than with a skater or a swimmer or a disney princess. my point is about op's mention of friendships and cr. anon above mentions missions, but that's not the only thing happening in games, even those mission based. my character will interact with people outside their job. he'll want everyone's mission to go well too. your chara doesn't accept kids in their missions, totally fair, but are you telling me they'd accept osomatsu or ariel? now if it was age cap AND suitability, i'd understand a little better and even agree with it. but age caps won't stop vampire lolis that behave like teens.

and yes, of course there will be other games. first thing i said was mods can create whatever game they want. i'm just expressing why i think age caps don't work by their own.

I'm sorry, you're not making any sense to me. Both are bad (well, kinda. I signed on knowing a bad end was possible and have been joking about it for a year so it's not exactly horrifying to me), but either the game dies or it makes it to the planned endgame. It can't do both.

in my own tagging out, i lean toward b, but i do a pretty often because i prefer to tag out cross canon and i like to check if the person is okay with whatever au or scenario i'm thinking of before i write a starter around it.

my character is a military guy, so when it comes right down to it, he's going to have a lot more in common with a child soldier than with an osomatsu or a yuri on ice character. he'd be bothered by the idea of child soldiers, of course, but it's not like they don't exist in his own world and if push came to shove, he would be way more comfortable going on a mission with one of them than with an adult who had never picked up a weapon before.

I really want to make one, I have for a while before Eluvio opened up. I'm worried people would be too soured to a copy cat right now though. I just like games where you can travel to different settings.

+1 to all of this. none of my characters would be okay with children in battle or traumatizing situations, no matter how well suited they might be

fuck's sake, forget ~suitability for once. let there be at least ONE game where it's grown ups only. you can take your child badasses to any other dark/violent game (except eluvio lol)
