no it's... not? why are you still stroking a hateboner for people who haven't done anything recently besides but play a lot of characters?

the irony of mods being passive-aggressive babies and threatening to take their toys and go home over not wanting young characters in the game

i'm not in the game, i'm just here because i was one of the people who was going to app until i saw this trainwreck. the people who've actually played with them can sling shit if they really deserve it.

I won't pretend this isn't something that makes me uneasy, too. I really want our characters to at least get resolution or do something that makes it feel like all the effort mattered, even if we don't get a good end, and the short time frame does worry me.

In all the discussions I've seen about that aspect of it, though, I don't recall the mods ever stating a firm end date, or even anyone going to the mods to ask them for one. 2 to 2.5 years sounds to me like there's wiggle room, and we don't know how set that time frame really is or how hardassed the mods will really be if we get close but would fall short by an ooc month or whatever.

I don't mind a comment or PM, but I'd personally prefer a starter which has had some thought put into it. I like crosscanon and random encounters though and I try and tag out myself whenever inspiration strikes, but when I top level I want someone else to do the leg work and if they do I'll almost certainly tag back (conditions apply, etc.)

I don't think that's a bad idea. I was thinking about socking up myself to ask for some kind of reassurance but I couldn't think of what to say exactly.

I might advertise on RPA after all. I didn't realize there would be interest for this sort of thing.

if you have no interest in iron fist then just avoid it. defenders is going to go over important info for everyone who didn't watch the entirety of the shows bc they don't want to alienate any audiences. this is an accessible tv show, not gatekeeping comics. you're fine.

Question about something I've been curious about for a while now

Do people who report news on video games have to contact the developer or publisher of a game to get added to that company's press list? Or do the devs or publisher see a gaming news site/blog/etc. and add them to their press list without needing to contact them? Something else?

How about fuck you? They shouldn't have to, and the way this situation is being handled is popular with exactly one group and that's the modteam. The people who apped and got accepted should have as much access to the plot regardless of who they play. People call out mod favoritism and cliquishness all the time, and they're calling this out now.

They created this situation and they should have shown some flexibility and consideration for their players instead of locking their knees and screaming NO NO NO IT HAS TO BE THIS WAY OR WE'LL SHUT DOWN EVERYTHING!!!!! Modding is about working with what you have, not pissing down your own legs because you accepted the players who showed up and then changed your mind about then three months later.

For the record, there are 13 areas total in the game with one of them being optional (Mel said this ages ago on plurk, I can't find it because it was literally a year+ but I'm sure she'd confirm it if you asked).

We've found Res 1, Res 2, Split Tunnels, Industrial Zone, Ice Tunnels, Downtown, and the Entrance, so 7/13 (unless the two halves of the split tunnels count as 2 areas then 8/13 I guess.)

Also for the record I'd rather have a mystery to solve and fail at the endgame than have everything handed to us so we can all angst about it.

i guess on some level it's an appeal to authority fallacy, but it always comes from people who think you can't be racist unless you lynch someone while explicitly saying "i am doing this because of his skin tone."

Another former mod here. I don't have much sympathy for them and frankly, a lot of the calls they're making are just plain lazy and rash. It's not the playerbase's fault they didn't take the time to really think about what characters they wanted in game. That's a question that needs to be asked and answered long before you advertise because it's such a basic issue that literally affects everyone in game from the get-go.

I get that modding is a thankless job and you have to accommodate a whole bunch of people but so much of this could have been prevented by thinking things through and communicating their vision for the game in the actual info provided to the players. Or at least, giving them a heads up that they were shaky on some things instead of sweeping it under the rug and pulling a bait and switch.

I was in inugami before it blew up. Even that had more actual horror than what's been peddled here and no one really felt the need to go, "Won't someone think of the children!?" over it.

another former mod and not having a clear picture in mind before even opening is what killed it. they've gone back on more than one thing and had to rewrite too many rules/add caps and continue to tweak things that are pretty basic for new games in this day and age. rule one of any new game lately is to put in a cap. their excuse of 'well, we didn't even know if people would be interested' is bullshit. you still put in a cap, because if you actually want your game to succeed, you plan for long term. it's not the fault of the playerbase if the mods haven't even figured basic shit out. all games have growing pains. things that new mods or even old ones in new games didn't think of or didn't think they'd need to apply. there's nothing wrong with that at all and it's why transparency and mod to game communication over things like that is so important. yes, it's a mod's game, but 'i do what i want' isn't the best mindset to have when you need a playerbase to have a game. it's a symbiotic relationship, not a fucking hostile takeover.
