Transformation and Mind Control. I like pretty much all types of transformation but male-to-female does nothing for me and I dislike breeding and vore (with some exceptions to the latter) as story elements. With mind control, light hypnosis doesn't do it for me, I like really extreme mind control with attempted resistance (slow intelligence reduction is my favorite). Combining transformation and mind control in various ways is the best.

(I wish I could find more people in my circles who are into this shit, because a large amount of the stories that currently exist are written by guys who are really hyper-focused on male dominance/female submission in a way that turns me off).

I'm curious if anyone has managed to get HD screenshots or game rips of Altera's different portraits and expressions from Fate/Extella, or if I should wait a few more months. I've found some uploads of game CGs, but very few clean sources of her portrait art.

Unless I'm really feeling one character and already basically know I'm taking them, I usually go by interest. Like if I offer up character A or B and a lot of people immediately reply wanting A while no one mentions B, I'll take A.

Mod here. I would strongly discourage you from tacking things onto your character, even little things, without contacting the mods of your game. They should let most things happen with no issues, but like if your character gets a new power or has something traumatic happen, that's something they'd definitely want to know.

what other people have said. very welcoming OOCly, can be difficult ICly at times.

going into it, i recommend having a clear concept of how your character will react to the setting/what they will plan on doing to contribute ongoing efforts, if anything. that gives you an idea of who to poke both OOCly and ICly with the guides and illuminating conversations later on. make the most of your intro, add people on plurk, and keep an open mind.

don't be afraid to reach out like "hey my character is in X area, is anyone around?" OOCly either. ICly, you may want to try maneuvering your character into high traffic areas for this purpose. picking up a travel companion honestly will help you stay engaged, even if you're just throwing silly ideas at each other for what their cr is like offscreen.

even if you don't find anyone to travel with, there's a lot to react to that happens in network posts, too, so that can serve as a branching point for your intro or as a way to meet more people than your intro allowed. stay persistent, keep in touch ICly with anyone your character talked to who they might conceivably give a shit about (inboxes are a wonderful thing), and have fun with it. the setting is pretty doom and gloom, but there are plenty of opportunities for outright silliness all the same.

i'm a relatively new player and i've been having a blast so far even if my character hasn't come close to reaching the main plot area, so just be aware that it can be done. i wish you all the luck in the world in getting settled in, too! i can't say much about the mod issues other people have brought up, but i can say that i haven't been discouraged yet and i don't plan on leaving soon. so, yes, you'll find your niche. ♥

agreeing with the other anon that that'd be cool to have, too. some kind of overarching plot for the characters trapped here to deal with would also be nice. npcs for them to interact with and try to get answers from etc. i've found the games i have the most fun in are ones where the npcs are involved and able to be interacted with through events.

but this just in general sounds like a game that'd scratch the exact itch i need in a game right now. there are far too many au/slice of life/space games rn.
