Rundown:
rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.
Rules:
Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

Noli me Tángere is generally considered a masterpieces here in the Philippines and reading it in the original tongue is just beautiful. Noli me Tángere follows a cast of characters living in, mostly Filipinos, who faced injustice and cruelty during times when the Philippines was colonised by Spain. Specifically it follows the story of Crisóstomo Ibarra, a young man who returns to the Philippines since he was studying in Europe for the last seven years. Due to actions from his father in the past and his own actions later on, he begins to faces great challenges that come in the form of the corrupt Spanish Catholic church and government leaders who begin to oppose and attempt to ruin him.
(To give a bit of a background to this book: Rizal wrote this book in an attempt to expose the corruption and abuse that ran rampant in the Philippines, done by Spanish officials and the hypocrisy of the people running the Church. He was not a big fan of them as you'll tell in this book.)
The author, Dr. Jose Rizal, has a way with words that I think can only be understood in the language he first wrote it in, Spanish. But! The translations of Noli over the years are pretty good. For people who want to read it true to form but in English, I recommend the translation by María Soledad Lacson-Locsin. It does make the book a bit difficult to get into at first but stick with it and within a chapter or two you'll be hooked.
Ladlad 2 is also something I would recommend for people looking for more literature in the LGBTQ+ category and also want to know more about communities outside of what they know from their country. As stated by the title, this is a collection of stories, poems, and essays by authors in the Philippines or who are Filipino who are gay. The subject of the works can range from a man attempting to deny his feelings for another man and what happens after to the honeymoon night of a couple making love to one another. The stories range from sweet to sorrowful and are all worth a read at least once.
The way some material is handled and written can be a bit jarring but it perhaps it'll give you an understanding of the community here is like: Bolder in words, softer in actions, thoughtful yet crass that can come as shocking. It was such an important book for me to read when I was still learning about my own sexuality back then so this has a special place in my heart. BUT! Since I know that isn't very useful without recommendations, here are some off the English works I personally loved the most:
Essays:
A postcard from Palawan
Pua Iyam
Wanted: Womb
My sister's dolls
Gayspeak in the Nineties
Poems:
Silhouette
The cost of living
Queen
Oath
Conch
Orbit
Room
Jupiter
Stories:
The husband
Saturday Night
Sorry about all those words! I really wrote an essay here. I do hope people like the sound of the books I'm trying to describe and take a moment to look into at least one of them!
