i recently heard from a friend that another mutual friend of ours whos been pretty distant is actually intimidated by me

im genuinely happy to talk to every one of my friends in this hobby, and i try extra hard to be very nice and welcoming, but it's still not the first time ive heard of people being secretly scared of me. i have no idea what i did, but i cant ask without putting our friend in an awkward place. it's really bumming me out and making me feel kind of unwelcome in this hobby

i know, some of u guys would say that rpers are tittybabies who are intimidated by everything or w/e and that i shouldnt take it personally, but still. i just wanna write and chill with my friends, man, this sucks.

i have a weird fascination with mysteries like disappearances, murders, etc. websleuths.com and /r/unresolvedmysteries are my go-to internet communities for that shit. sometimes abovetopsecret.com if i'm in the mood for dumb conspiracy theories and people posting shitty "proof" of aliens/nessie/chupacabra/bigfoot. (hint: if it's not photoshopped, it's probably an airplane/boat/dog with mange/man in a suit.)

investigation discovery (ID) is a good channel for the true crime kind of stuff, but if anons don't have access to it, there are some (but not a lot of) ID shows on primewire.ag. also forensic files.

Sadly this isn't just a nerd thing, it's a human thing. We want someone who doesn't like something we like to change their minds and like it as a form of social acceptance. It's dumb and annoying and more difficult to find people who DON'T do this than people who do.

why does everyone on my timeline and at work get deathly sick on like a weekly basis

i'd want to fucking die if i was that sick so often, go to the doctor for some kind of help?? jesus. i get sick like once or twice a year and i thought that was normal.

a) they're exaggerating for sympathy
b) if they work with people, chances are they're going to come across a variety of mutations of colds/flus. triply so if they work with/around or live around kids. kids are germ factories, but that has to do with them not having a developed immune system yet and not caring about hygiene.
c) some people have very shitty immune systems. people on weird diets or who have food allergies/intolerances or people who take out a huge spectrum of the food groups aren't getting all the vitamins they need. even with supplements.
d) it's cold/flu season. the amount of germ crosscontamination at this point in time is fucking high. sneezing and then putting your hand on the bus rail. opening a door while holding a snotty tissue. coughing and not covering your mouth. people working with/around food who really shouldn't but they've already taken all their sick days so they're forced to work because someone needs to pay the fucking bills...

i don't get deathly sick often, but i get sniffles/colds frequently. going to the doctor over it is just pointless, because all they'll do is tell you to stay at home/drink fluids/take medication, and that's all stuff you do on your own. the only thing a doctor can give you that you can't get yourself are antibiotics, and the really wise types will figure out not to bother with antibiotics unless you really, really, really need them, since your body can and will build up tolerances to them until they become ineffective. so save them for when you really need them and not for cold/flu #323.

hey anons, what's your advice on not taking a lack of response to your plurks personally?

i know there are a lot of reasons why people might pass over your plurks and it's absolutely not something to stake your self-esteem on, but it still feels i'm getting totally ignored a lot of the time. i make an effort to respond to other plurks and try to keep dumb chatter on mine to a minimum, but it seems like even good morning plurks get more traffic when they're posted by other people, even when we have a lot of mutuals.

more recently a buttpat meme was going around, and i usually don't like to post those because it makes me feel awkward, but i was having a bad night and could have used a bit of an ego stroke. i got total radio silence while other people got multiple responses, including from people whose own plurks i responded to, or people who didn't post one but that i know i'm on good terms with. i get that they probably just missed mine but it feels like this happens every time.

i know nobody is obligated to respond to my plurks, but it still feels bad. is there a way i can learn to shrug it off? alternately, is there a way i can address this short of asking my friends why they didn't give me free compliments?
