i'm excited but nervous! literally nobody expects trump to do well anymore, which means the pressure's double on hillary to surpass the first debate, to come off empathetic and human to real people (which i know she's done before, but not with the intent of playing to an audience), and to not get sidetracked into policy wonk mode or taking the unbelievably easy potshots at trump

if there's anything that little donny has proven time and again, it's that he's incapable of learning from his mistakes or even admitting that he was wrong. he's going to double down on every little fuckheaded thing he's done in this last week, because that's what narcissists do. all hilldawg needs to do is smile politely, answer questions that the town hall poses for her with grace, and let trump dig his own grave.

What does 'talking points' mean?

- not American, ESL anon here.

pre-approved, focus group-generated topics to discuss and regurgitate again and again, usually verbatim.

essentially, common political rhetoric in relation to various policies or issues.

in laymen's terms, it's subjects they've agreed to discuss during the debate. examples would be climate change, prison reform. basic points that are the subjects they're going to be talking about. talking 'points', as in, that point of the conversation.
