Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

elementary school au game set at wayside school

Re: GAME IDEAS

i know this is just a joke comment and this type of game wouldn't work in dwrp anymore, but it would be so much fun to apply the concepts of wayside school to something else. a massive apartment building or something.

It almost was before the mod was scared off by the wankers. I wish they'd either come back or pass it on to some people with hardier stomachs.

Re: GAME IDEAS

so since the current last page on this post has no less than five separate threads griping about player tagging speed on dwrp... what about a dwrp game that's set up more like a tabletop game? in that people agree to set time out of their schedule once a week (as they would a d&d game) and dedicate that time specifically to boomeranging and knocking out threads quickly?

i mean of course it's going to boil down to making that work without making it feel forced, like everyone actively wants to set time aside and it's a group of people where that one day tends to work for the majority of them (so probably a small-medium sized game where most people are from one particular time zone, or a group of people with roughly the same schedule) but it's not going to be the end of the world if they miss one week or something due to RL. but they don't miss them regularly. and regular tagging can occur any of the other days of the week.

just that one week a majority of the game is like YEAH THIS IS THE NIGHT I'M EXCITED TO SET TIME ASIDE AND RP AND IT'S SOMETHING I PLAN FOR

i dunno, before the advent of netflicks and internet-based entertainment where you can watch whatever you wanted whenever, it was the thing to set time aside to catch your favorite TV show as it aired, you know? it was just what everyone did. it was normal. it wasn't forced.

a game would have to capture the feeling of something like that.

If you can scrape together a group of admin/DM's/mods who are from different timezones it would help, but this sounds like a fabulous idea. Is it just the day-of-the-week that's similar to tabletop, or is there elements like dungeon-crawling or NPC harassing that you had in mind?

Re: GAME IDEAS

I was in a game once where that was implicitly the case due to some game mechanics, and as much as I loved the game that's what killed it for me because I don't live in EST. And I know that other Europeans have the same issue. Everyone setting time aside only works if everyone is roughly in the same timezone and if their schedules roughly match. Aka such a game would necessarily end up being a lot less international.

The second issue is that you know what the main difference between dwrp and p&p is? The number of players. At least as an adult, getting six people together for a session is hard enough. Most DWRPs have significantly more players than that.

(Anonymous) 2016-10-04 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
i think the above two anons are missing the point that for something like this to work it has to not be inclusive to everyone and every timezone and every work schedule.

which i'm down for, but that's how it's going to have to work. some people are going to feel let out and accept them's just the breaks.

MAGICAL GIRL/BOY TURF WARFARE

(Anonymous) 2016-10-04 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Gag game loosely based on Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE and The Voice.

Characters take a step from wherever they are and find themselves being introduced as the new student (or for adults, new teacher, or new club advisor, or new employee at a local business, etc.) at a school in a small town of ambiguous nationality. Over the course of the first day in this town, the character will have an encounter (either with an NPC mascot animal or with a PC) that will encourage the character to TEAM UP TO SAVE THE WORLD or TEAM UP TO DESTROY THE WORLD with a group of heroes or villains in silly costumes. Joining a hero or villain squad will give powers to non-powered characters and nerf the most powerful characters, and will force them to put on silly costumes whenever they want ot use their powers.

The result is that the school/town is overrun with multiple hero teams and villain teams, all working at cross-purposes. (They're all magically masked so no one knows who's who unless someone voluntarily unmask.) The villain teams use their own powers or the powers of their mascot animals to wreak havoc (and try to escape). The hero teams will probably accidentally wreak havoc by stepping on each others' feet (and trying to escape).

What team the character will be on would be worked out OOCly in an app, though it would be played out ICly. Team shifts would be possible. Team alliances and rivalries would be encouraged. Teams could be based on any common characteristic or no common characteristic at all, but they would all have stupid themes and would all have themed costumes.

A series of small hints lead up to and endgame revealing that the whole thing is an alien reality television show, where the mascot animals were just trying to have the most popular hero or villain teams. The characters have to beat up their team mascots to escape. Then the show is cancelled.

So a gag C&C with emphasis on PVP monster-of-the-week.

Kink-based dressing room

(Anonymous) 2016-10-09 04:09 pm (UTC)(link)
How are we feeling about a kink-based dressing room with a game-like set up and monthly events, along with a major focus on a few game-specific kinks along with room to work out other kinks as players want them?

Are we all reading this and rolling our eyes thinking about the love hotel and drama-wank, or are there enough of us out there reading this and hoping we could make it work (with the right premise) that it's worth building one and keeping it afloat for a six-month or year-long run?

If the latter is true, what sorts of ooc and ic rules are deal-breakers, and what would make you feel more comfortable? My goal as a mod of this would be to keep a central theme running and offer opportunities to explore a set of kinks built into the setting and metaplot, but building a foundation of clear rules will give me the best ammo to keep the peace in the meantime. I'm sure there are some that I haven't thought of yet so your help would be appreciated.

i really love this idea and i'd be all over this! i don't have enough experience with this kind of thing to have too much in the way of suggestions (beyond stuff i'd consider obvious like player consent) but consider one person on board at least.

A couple of ideas from a newbie...

(Anonymous) 2016-10-20 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
While I don't have the skills to do a game myself I'm hoping someone takes my ideas to heart.

Okay, my first idea is a Pokémon game but instead of it being set in Kanto/Johto like in Route 29, or a straight up AU like in BraveNewWorld it takes place in either a region not featured yet (Sinnoh, Unova, or Kalos) or possibly an original region that has no native species of Pokémon just those from other regions. There would be three main types of apps, dependent on what type of character you would app: Pokémon characters from any medium (anime, videogames, etc.), characters brought to said region through some weird technology thing (example being Bill of the anime and games' transporter misfires and brings the character here, and with or without powers), as well as AU versions of canon characters fit as a trainer/breeder/coordinator/etc.

The other idea is a Power Rangers rpg. The basic idea is that enemies thought to have been beaten were resurrected by a mysterious enemy who at first was thought to be Lord Arcanon the current villain against the Dino Charge Rangers. He seizes this opportunity to attack Amber Beach and while the Rangers are gone, a spirit of the past (for the sake of this explanation it could be Zordon, or anyone) contacts Keeper and various team Mentors and are called upon to bring champions of different universes to help. Your player character/apped character. The premise is that every apped character will have a morpher from the show and as the game goes they may find out why these villains have returned, and where are the canon Rangers.

Also, has anyone ever done a Digimon Frontier game? I remember hearing a game something like that in previous posts.
