All the pretty little anons

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

LOST CARNIVAL: a transformation circus game

[personal profile] ringleaders 2016-10-02 10:33 am (UTC)(link)
You earned yourself a debt. There are a lot of ways to do it. Maybe you played a game of chance without paying, and then lost. Maybe you watched part of a show through the curtains of the Big Top without a ticket. Or maybe you’re one of the rare few to seek out the Ringmaster by choice, to see what this strange new world has to offer. Either way, you end up with a job with which to pay the carnival back, and a contract.

For a year and a day, you’ll travel with the carnival, given work to match your skills. You’ll see the multiverse and help to bring wonder to its various inhabitants. You’ll meet new people, discover new passions, and change in ways both physical and emotional. And after that... the Ringmaster vows to return you to the precise place and moment you left. If, of course, that is what you still want.

Sounds like a good deal, right? Either way, it doesn’t really matter what you think of it at the moment. The Ringmaster has decided to give you this opportunity, and you had better make the best of it.

As you’ll soon learn, sometimes what goes on backstage is more complicated than it seems, and a carnival that can travel through worlds can also earn itself some powerful enemies.
Lost Carnival is a panfandom game centered around the activities of a mysterious carnival, capable of travelling between dimensions, and bringing a motley crew of indentured employees with it. Major themes include the mental and physical transformations that come with being exposed to the carnival’s faerie magic, as well as the dangers that come from meddling with other worlds.

The game is likely to run for a couple years, and is intended to have a flexible and free form meta plot that encourages contributions from players, and will balance carnival slice of life with more involved and dramatic plot arcs.

THE ATLAS: A space exploration & adventure game

[personal profile] atlasmods 2016-10-02 11:46 am (UTC)(link)

PREMISE

It starts with darkness. Endless, peaceful. Then comes the beeping. Suddenly there's pressure all around, choking you; the need to breathe grabs hold and drags you from that calming dark and into the waking world: a metal prison filled with the hiss of rapidly-expelling gas, and a synthesized voice which reports,

...ALIBRATING. BEGINNING INITIALIZATION SEQUENCE.
SUIT PERFORMANCE AT: 5%...10%...20%
LIFE SUPPORT SYSTEMS ONLINE.

Air rushes to your lungs and the black spots fade from the edges of your vision. The front of your prison opens and as your vision clears, you find yourself someplace different. Alien. Above you is a sky and stars you don't recognize. Before you, the surface of a planet of which you have no memory. The only help you can find comes in the form of a single holographic message from a screen on your wrist:

FIND THE ATLAS.

Characters on the starter planet wake after another PC (player-character) has interfaced or touched their stasis pod and activated the reanimation sequence. Those who require breathing will find themselves initially suffocating as their suit's life support systems come back online. This suit will also provide protection from the planet's inhospitable atmosphere. The only guidance any character is given is the message displayed on their wrist display; once they've read it it deactivates and cannot be turned on or used again.

All characters arrive with nothing but their (marginally functional) suit, wrist display, and 3 days' worth of rations to be found inside their stasis pod. It will be up to characters to find resources and shelter, recover their fellow travelers, and figure out what's going on.

No matter where they go and what they encounter though, it always comes back to The Atlas: what is it, who is it, and is it connected to a way home...?

The Atlas is a dynamic (location-changing) pan-fandom RP inspired by No Man's Sky & Warframe, set in the vast expanse of space. It focuses on survival and exploration with characters waking up in stasis pods with no clue as to how they got there. They are left only a single message to start and guide them on their journey: Find The Atlas. Characters must decide if they wish to seek the Atlas to discover who or what it truly is, or eke out a new life for themselves among the stars as they encounter challenges both good and bad, aliens species which can offer aid and insight into the mythos of the galaxy, and the mystery of why and how they came to be in this strange universe.

Players' actions will have a direct impact on the plot and will affect the game as a whole.

LETHEVALE - An AU Gothic Mystery

[personal profile] lethevale_mods 2016-10-02 12:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Nestled in the forest, in the shadow of the Carpathian mountains and the mansion on the cliffs, is the little town of Lethevale - at first sight, a quaint place, if darkly suspicious of outsiders. It is to this town that you have come. Why? Perhaps you were hoping to find a job, or visit a relative. Perhaps you are running from something, or wandering without a purpose. Perhaps you just came off the road on the way to somewhere else. Either way, the town draws you in - and leaving may prove harder than you expected.

Whether you choose to investigate or to live in blissful ignorance, whether you wish to leave or are happy to stay, one thing is clear. Something very, very strange is going on in Lethevale. Something that spreads its roots much deeper than the town, deeper even than this world. And now, you’re a part of it.

Re: GAME ADS

Magic. It's dying.

The general population doesn't know it. They can't feel it. The mundane, the uninitiated - they can't sense the lines of magic that course through the earth like veins, all running to power nodes. But the supernatural, the mutants, and the demigods alike all depend on the existence of magic. They rely on it to function.

Stray too far from one, and the vampires turn to corpses, the shapeshifters turn to animals, the mutants cease to be able to manipulate creation, and the demigods lose access to their heavenly lineage.

Slowly, one by one, the nodes have been draining. Vancouver and Hong Kong are the last remaining major cities with a functioning power source. Vancouver's reigning council has closed the city to outsiders, preferring to keep their home clean of vagabonds and preserve what's left of the magic they reside upon, hoping it'll be enough to save them.

But Hong Kong. Hong Kong's lady ruler has recently opened the gates and offered her city as sanctuary.

She welcomes you with open arms.
