All the pretty little anons

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

i've dreamt a couple of times that i apped and got accepted with a character whose canon i'd never actually seen/read/played, and each time i spent the whole dream living in fear of someone finding out

fade rift allows native OCs (as in native to the setting, that's probably the terminology you're going to find here most), i'm not sure who else does right now.

as for prose-heavy games, the atlas is opening soon and has no network. anywhere without a network is going to lean heavier that way. good luck!

Thank you so much, anon! I'll be checking them out.

no problem I'm on mobile and they're working fine! I appreciate it!

tokyo ghoul comes to mind. it's about a human who has ghoul organs transplanted into him and becomes a half-ghoul and has to eat human flesh. i liked it a lot. it's an anime, but the manga is better and longer.

still, you could check out the anime first to see if you get hooked, and then read the manga. that's what i did.

undergrounds has no network and lots of prose! It's an AU game as well so whether you played an OC or a fandom character you'd have to write them into the setting.

fan of the anime and seriously watch rebuild. you won't see much different in the first one, but it starts to divert in interesting ways starting from the second.

Checking it out as I type! Thank you for the rec!

idk i was in forestcovered (and another networkless game) when it first came out and while the quality was better than it is now, it was all short tags with little substance all around. i like to think it encourages people who tag a certain way, but it seems to just draw the same people as anywhere else.

I think it's gotten more appreciation as the years have gone on.

DD is the one I hear most of the hatred for these days.

I noticed the dislike seemed to become more prominent when DD came out. Before that it seemed people were willing to accept AJ as the start of an arc and see where it went from there and then DD just added more new characters, only resolved Phoenix's badge loss and nothing else. Trucy was reduced to a gag and Apollo was barely there but at least got a bit more fleshed out, but in ways that ignored most of AJ. I think that really opened the can of worms because it showed the creators didn't care anymore about the game and it did have plenty of faults that were made worse with loose and unresolved plot threads.

does anyone have any recommendations for learning software/games on steam? languages, programs, whatever? not so much looking for typing (though i admit i sometimes enjoy a bit of typing of the dead!) and i think i'd retain information better if it's a game rather than just something that teaches, but i'm interested in a lot of things!

if it teaches about computers and software i'm especially interested! i'd love to learn more about pcs and if it's more simple stuff i'd like to set them up for my grandparents.

Thanks for letting me know.

I hope you're right. Thanks, anon.

I just did! I'm one of October's newbies.

hope you're enjoying anon, I had a blast with it too! if it helps, I personally felt zero repeat fatigue in my playthrough of BS? not sure how deep into spoiler territory you want to go.

I'm really into Owari no Seraph/Seraph of the End, which has a lot of these themes. It's humans vs vampires and the manga/anime have a major character who was turned, but humans also have to be willingly possessed by demons to fight the vampires, so there's a lot of examining characters' relationships to their own inner troubles and the nature of humanity itself. There are two different prequel light novel series as well, which deal with demons and vampires respectively and are quite good.

+1

i fucking hate that. i mainly play casters so i often have no choice but to stand still, which results in low dps because these tanks drag every pack of mobs out of range. this in turn results in them bitching at me about said low dps.

you know how we could fix that? i could do damage too if you weren't fucking running away with everything all the time!

My stupid hipster heart gets upset when my faves do too well on popularity polls, that's even dumber. Be glad you're not like me.

another days-long indecision on whether to do the username with or without an underscore

I know nobody really cares that much, but here I am anyway

this is the most bizarre and redundant meme ever

like uh... yeah, any time we tag someone on a meme it's because we want... to tag them? what the hell

Can I get a link to the TDM please? :>

(Anonymous) 2016-10-12 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
I had to choose a username recently. Agonized about it for a month or two- including after I just bit the bullet and went with my first instinct. I think your problem sounds familiar.

I don't know if this helps, but yeah. It can be miserable.

(Anonymous) 2016-10-12 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
I'm looking to improve my response speed. I'm naturally inclined to agonize over every line, but I don't think its fair to other players.

Anyone have some thoughts?
