god i despise people like you. you know why i tell people i don't have a favorite band/genre? because i don't listen to music. i've never bought a CD, i don't listen to the radio, and the idea of sitting around doing nothing but listening to an album bores me to tears. it's background noise for me to listen to when i'm driving and forget about the minute i turn it off.

i'm not a music person. get the fuck over it.

i was just responding to the claim that if you play out a sex scene in a non-sex game, you're going to be automatically wanked on. that part is just total bullshit.

nobody's saying it's going to be as easy to find sex in a non-sex game. it's just that the claim that you're going to get dragged to an anoncomm and raked over the coals just for playing out a sex scene is ridiculous.

like, we know that. no shit someone whos going to be an asshole isn't worth talking to. it's not about that. it's the history of embarrassment or bullying that makes sharing this sort of stuff difficult for people.

we know that someone who does that isn't worth having a conversation with, but in the moment? it's much easier to simply say "i listen to anything" rather than just putting yourself in a situation that makes you uncomfortable.

maybe this is weird but i don't really care so long as they don't drop major spoilers for my character (like "oh shit you died at the end of season 3!" or whatever)

i've been on the opposite side of that and played characters who are massive nerds where it would be ooc for them to not recognize someone like say, superman or luke skywalker. so i usually just play it off as them being like "[INTERNAL SCREAMING]" while trying to keep their cool on the outside and not mention the whole fictional thing.

on the reverse side, if i'm the person playing superman or luke skywalker, i just accept that i am playing a super popular well-known character and that there is going to be a certain amount of other characters recognizing them. i feel like it's too much to expect an rp with 80-200 characters in it-- where a LARGE chunk of those are or were regular people from western cultures in 20th/21st century earth-- to just NOT recognise characters that are cultural icons, or to not react, or to not tag you. accepting that people will recognise your well-known character is kinda part and parcel of playing them. if you can't deal with that, don't app them.

I wouldn't say male characters slobbered over my female one or were desperate for her, but the prevalent assumption that 9 dicks out of 10 are gonna be repulsed by pussy in this hobby is... definitely an overstatement. Just don't go into it expecting attention from specific people, because they might turn out to be like That Gayve and you'll be disappointed. Keep an open mind, be flexible, and your experience will lilely be just fine.

not gonna lie, switching between plurks manually is a pain (i wish there was a widget!), but i've found it's dramatically decreased my anxiety worrying about if i'm bothering people who only have me added for RP with my RL shit. making a clique wasn't appealing to me because i don't like sending out email blasts every time i wanna talk about my personal life. and on the reverse side, friends that i've made through rp who i no longer rp with and don't want to see my 4981723 plurks about games they're not in but still want to keep up with me personally can do that easily, too. it's not a perfect system but it's got plenty to recommend it imo.

It's been happening to me, too and I've been backing up my files in preparation for a total reset.

In the meantime, if you're on a laptop, try unplugging it, removing the battery, and holding power down for 30-40 seconds. It's not a permafix but it might get you back into windows at least.

Nah, they were fine otherwise! I just let them pick the music and rolled my eyes throughout and didn't bring it up of my own volition. When I say 'upbraided' I mean in the sense of tween-aged girls and a little later into teenagerhood. Everyone was super vehement about everything all of the time... sort of like the OP of this debacle of a thread, ha ha.

I don't really care so strongly about music that any of this is debilitating, it's just a weird quirk that I haven't let go of yet.

I've never kept track. Going by my comment counts across all my active journals, 20/day seems to be the "average" for them, but that doesn't really mean anything since I don't really tag every day-- I have days where I don't tag and days where I do masses of tags, so. Who knows, really. Idk. Just go at your own pace? You'll find people who want to play with you at your speed, there's so many different kinds of taggers out there looking for so many different things. There's no point in worrying about others.
