Or at least this variant of the backstory, anyway - Scott did mention it was a canon AU, after all. Still, even if it doesn't tread new ground, and even if it's not perfectly in line with the game timeline, it's still a good read.

im not a super private person, i babble to everyone about my rp bullshit. family, coworkers, friends...tbh they are just as interested as when i start going on about whatever tv show/video game/movie im into at the moment, it's just something interesting to hear about when we don't have anything better to talk about. not a big deal.

although to be fair i dont do smut, and if i did i would probably leave that stuff out and just talk about gen threads, because i dont consider porn to be a topic of polite conversation...

my local super grocery has started carrying single microwave meals of hamburger helper so you might want to keep an eye out for that. they're usually on the same aisle as the actual hamburger helper.

how do you personally approach characters who break the fourth wall, either playing the fourth wall breaker or playing WITH the fourth wall breaker? do you just ignore that facet of their character, put up a permissions post? do you avoid them or do you find it interesting with a good player?

and by characters who break the fourth wall i mostly mean characters who are aware they personally are fictional and comment upon it sometimes.

unless it's part of their character type, like elliot talking to the viewer or deadpool, it depends on which side i'm playing.

say i played stiles. he makes a ton of pop culture references (particularly against DC-verse), but if i were playing him against a batman or superman, i wouldn't have him be like 'oh snap, you're batman. i mean, bruce wayne. i mean, bat wayne... shit.' i'd either skip over that particular canon for referencing, or i'd make up an alternate (the jester, awesomeman, flamingo, ratman). if i were playing the opposite side of that, unless it's part of their canon, (people having steve rogers playing cards/comics, collectable iron man figures), i'd prefer not to have someone say they saw my char in a movie about superheroes.

but that's just my preference and some people are fine with breaking through the fourth wall. i have a permissions post that does say i don't like it and i try to check partners to see how they are, but if someone does and i'm not okay with it, i'll pm them to clarify.

yeah, i'm pretty similar with the examples you mentioned, though i was asking mainly about characters who talk to the viewer/are aware they're in a show or what have you... it's hard to just gloss over that when it's something they do as part of their character.

Unfortunately I'm not in the market for any games with Rose, but I can totally offer her up for memes and PSLs.

i think that's a hard one. you can always do what they do for deadpool in the comics, which is to have his 'audience addressing script', and just do something like :so what do you think of this, faithful viewers?: or something that is specific to that character breaking the fourth wall towards an 'audience', real or not. i mean, even in dp's canon, he's known for breaking the fourth wall, but the people he's with when he talks out loud (because it's out loud sometimes) just chalk it up to him being bananapants crazy, just like in the movie. they either don't acknowledge it or they ask him who he's talking to and he says 'the viewers/audience' and they just 'okay, well, you're batshit'.

so it depends on if you'd want to play that a similar way or not. it is a bit different, since the medium itself is different (written vs show/movie), but you could always try a 'dear readers' approach, like some narrators do. i haven't played a char like that, so i'll admit, it's not something i've thought of.

It's nice to have something canon, even if it'll inevitably destroy something of the year and a half's worth of game headcanon for some.

Genius schemers are RP hard mode, for sure.

Maybe find a game that's heavily PvE and has mods that seem willing to let players have a few wins?

When you're shopping for one it's better to buy fresh things in small quantities, or save twist-ties and rubber bands from things like bundles of broccoli or bags of carrots or bulk bags to preserve open bags and containers a little longer. Unfortunately, if you were raised on those value-meal bulk kinds of food and you have trouble expanding your palette, it could take a while to find ways make those meals that last longer.

You could try making them and portioning them out into individual containers, and freezing some.

I have to wonder if the oversized meals is an echoic response to the sudden and fierce 'have not' times during the great depression and the second world war. People's great grandparents went whole-hog for bigger meals once they were available and people just haven't questioned that mindset, having grown up with it?

I can't wait to see shitty headcanons thrown in the trash.

Between this and Aquarion EVOL it feels like Kawamori needs to stop making anime. Or at least stick to mechanical design and leave writing to actually competent people who won't squander all the potential.

I hesitate to trust that the advice you're giving people for their physical states (ie: exercise and nutrition) is up to snuff if that's your advice to people who are struggling (and openly admitting to trying) with their mental state. You need to re-examine the difference between self-reliance in healthy individuals and self-reliance in those who've had a hundred holes poked in the jet fuel tanks of their lives.

On the other hand, I understand what you're trying to say, in that you need to be willing to get it through that change comes from within, but when ayrt has clearly been taking different steps to bounce back from various hardships, this advice is not only off base, but harmful. Save the tough love for those who refuse to otherwise move their lump-asses, or better yet, you might consider gently shoving it up your ass, since it seems to have done you so well by your struggling lonesome.

i know this isn't always the case or a foolproof formula, but in my experience, people who make an effort to format their journal a little seem to make more of an effort with their tags, both in being ic and in writing tags that are engaging and contribute to moving the thread along.

you don't have to have visualosities and playlists and polyvore shit linked, but at least 15 decent icons, the character's name in the field and what canon they're from somewhere on the journal, and something other than the default style is a plus.

someone once tagged me on a picture prompt meme with a character who had one word in the name field and no other information. i had no idea who the character was and googling the word didn't help at all, so i never tagged them back. later i discovered who the player was and i was glad i didn't respond for other reasons, but it's really frustrating having no idea who the character is and no way to google them.

It is true that the US has larger portion sizes than most other countries. A lot of people who visit from other countries find themselves shocked by that and unable to finish their meals. Seriously, it's probably one of the bigger causes of obesity in the US, with another being the lack of quality to our diets.

Whoops, you got me - It's not like I'd consider it stalking, but I accidentally piqued some good friends' curiosity about my fandom works while I was drunk. I normally come across as being innocent and even shy, so they were all really amused to think that I actually write smutty fanfic for a hobby.

I guess the cat is out of the bag already, but I'd still prefer that they didn't know the specifics.

Why would you buy those things in single servings though? It's much cheaper to buy in bulk, and things like butter and eggs will keep for months.

I want to like the anime but the ugly shota swords pissed me off enough when I played the game. Listening to Imanotsurugi speak is almost painful.

Why is the main cast made up of the boring boys?

a brief "wait, what was that?" (in a way appropriately IC for whatever character I'm playing) followed by thinking the 4th wall breaker is silly/eccentric/a bit crazy

I've been playing for a long time with a character who is like that and it was all good fun, but it helps that her player knew not to overdo it and was breaking the 4th wall with intent of making silly jokes and not for infomodding
