I can see where they would get that (since Karkat is pretty undeniably the most soft-hearted of all the trolls), but he kicked ass in SGRUB. I wouldn't buy him suddenly trying to kill someone he is somewhat close to (I would say "friends with" but it's... Karkat), but killing random monsters or people he doesn't know or legitimately hates who are trying to hurt his sorta-friends would be totally okay and kind of expected.

You realize he's really repressed and wants to fit in and seem like a badass even though he doesn't and isn't, right. You realize a character's actions are an infinitely more important part of characterization than what they say about themselves, right.

You realize that after talking about killing people constantly in his very earliest appearances, he's been consistently shown to be the only troll who flips out in terror and distress when people start dying, right? You realize that the whole troll murder arc climaxed in Karkat being the only troll who could actually solve a problem without killing the person solving it, right, and that that was the point of the arc, right? You realize it's a parallel drawn with his ancestor who is alien fucking Jesus, right?

It's not about being a bishie. It's about understanding the character on a level with any more subtlety than the ridiculous "a character/the limited narrator inside their head said something once, it's definitely 100% factually true forever" bullshit this fandom likes pulling out.

ADDENDUM: yes, he kills monsters in Sgrub, which is literally a fucking video game. Let's differentiate between "little demi-sentient imps who exist solely to attack and be killed by S___b" players" and "people" just slightly.

You said everything I wanted to, and a lot more eloquently. Karkat will talk all kinds of big troll shit about what a ruthless killer he is, but compare his words to his actions.

It's not about being ~*~kawaii~*~, it's about overcompensating for being a rare non-violent (or less violent) person who grew up on a planet where murder is a pretty casual thing.

That said, what OP is apparently talking about is someone getting shit for writing Karkat saying he would be OK with fighting someone to the death, which is absurd. Like, maybe the point would be debatable if he was from a later canon point, but that is definitely a thing that Karkat would say.

Just, yeah, uh, the answer to that isn't BUT KARKAT IS TOTALLY HOMICIDAL, because, hm. Um. No. He is a gentle soul. He just wishes he wasn't.
