rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

RE: b), there's usually at least one anon who cries about how Miles isn't a character and only exists because Muh Pandering, idk if they're the same anon as this one here but I wouldn't be surprised. Usually they cry about janethor and kamala, too.

Basically, any superhero that isn't white or dares to be a current female holder of a legacy title that was previously male can't be anything but the result of those darn pesky sjws who ruin everything.

and yet there Sam Alexander sits, probably the Most Teen of the trio in a lot of ways, with nary a bit of criticism thrown his way, so you got a point.

Depends where you hang. Sam gets shittalked in some circles constantly for the great sin of not being Rich Rider. (But nobody ever manages to give a more solid reason as to why he sucks than "he's not Rich," of course.)

oh yeah, absolutely, and also being associated with loeb, but he doesn't get subject to the same level of criticism from Comic Book Guys that Kamala and Miles do, especially Kamala, which was the whole point.

it's probably because the number of people who actually care about sam is much lower

well being a white kid, he doesn't trip the sensors of people who are looking for an excuse to whine about the tumblring of comics, either.

He's half-Latino. But I can think of like two pages where that's actually obvious in his book, so I can't blame anyone for missing it. It doesn't affect his life and hardly ever comes up, unlike Miles and Kamala.

and that doesn't make him a bad character or poor representation by any means. the teen trio in general are probably the best thing going in marvel right now in terms of stuff that's refreshing (even if it's just kind of a retread of oldschool spiderman or new mutants in some ways) but dudes (inb4 "WHY DOES IT NEED TO BE DUDES" again) always gotta bring up how miles is sjw-pandering or how making kamala a relate-able character to young nerd girls is somehow terrible.

Yeah, I'm totally with you there. The teens are the entire reason I'm enjoying ANAD Avengers; the adults...are just kinda there.
