rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

not being willing to 'try' being gay?

Yeah, because thinking that people can CHOOSE to be gay isn't homophobic. Not at all, indeed.

to be fair, they put try in quotations, which means they don't believe it themselves and are just quoting the person they're talking about.

it's the gay people calling straighties out for not wanting to give gay a chance. straight people can't choose to be gay any more than gay people can choose to be straight. this isn't a straight person calling someone else straight gay or calling out someone for being gay. this is a gay person calling someone homophobic because they weren't gay/bi/bicurious and that makes them 'homophobic'. hence the quotes, as another anon said. please read context.

let me clarify. it wasn't 'the gay people', it was a singular gay guy i knew being a douche and trying to call someone in our friend circle a homophobe because he wasn't interested in participating in homosexual activity with said gay guy. this is because this singular gay guy was a giant asshole and not because all gays are this level of ignorant.

sadly this isn't the first instance i've heard of

there's dicks in every area of every group of every denomination. religious, gender, sexuality, ethnicity. doesn't matter. you're going to find a douche in every group. gays can do wrong. there can be abuse in a gay or lesbian relationship. gays and lesbians and bisexuals can be racist/sexist. and in this instance, they can be the gay version of 'hey dyke, you're just gay because you haven't hopped on the right dick'. it will never cease to piss me off when someone hides behind a label that has nothing to do with their behavior. i didn't punch you because you were gay. i punched you because you put your head up my shirt in a bar and tried to motorboat me, then said it was okay because you were gay. i punched you because you were an asshole. you being gay had zero to do with it.
