Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

killers in rpland

If someone plays a character that has killed before, what is the etiquette for their cast? I know someone who plays a killer, they don't kill in the game, they can't kill in the game. But every time they talk to someone, one of their castmates instantly jumps in with "don't talk to them they're evil".

It would be IC for the warning but on an OOC line it's frustrating when it kills off any new CR. Is that something they need to suck up as a villain or would it be worth talking to the castmate about it?

talk to the castmate. they shouldn't be omnipresent and cockblocking all your cr

talk to your castmate, it may be ic for them to warn potential cr about your character, but if it's getting in the way of your ability to play and have fun, that's something that probably should be curbed. just because you play a morally questionable character doesn't mean you aren't allowed to have fun or forge cr.

ask the castmate to slow their roll. they don't need to jump into every single conversation your character is having with other people. they can have their character not around or watching the network if it's on network things.

Tell them to knock it off and stop doing it all the time. Even if it might be IC to warn, consider the fact that every time they are talking to someone they are bringing up the matter of the villain character. Is this character really that obsessed with hating the villain that they would do such a thing when the villain has behaved? Chances are the answer is actually no. A warning might be IC, but bringing it up that much likely isn't.

The other concern is that it also reeks of metagaming on the part of the people this castmate is talking to. The villain hasn't done anything wrong, so why are they being condemned as evil just because the castmate said so? The only reason for that to be a constant is metagaming because it is doubtful it's IC for everyone this castmate has spoken with to trust so readily. Unfortunately, a case like that is a problem with the game and about all that can be done is avoid the people doing that shit and/or report to the mods. But if it's the whole game, well best thing to is find a better game for the villain.
