Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

now in the right place!

this is a general gameplay question and not an rp question but

i'm really interested in trying this game out (even though i'm generally not an fps person) BUT i can't get the pc version since the computer i have now can't handle it.

the thing is, i suffer from really bad aim and i've heard it's harder to be accurate with the console versions. is that true? is it better for me to just wait and get the pc version later or is there not too much of a difference for more casual players?

yes, it's harder to be accurate on a controller than on m+kb, but there's like 3 heroes total that you NEED to be accurate on or else they're unplayable.

3, out of 21.

get the one more of your friends are buying. be warned the communities are different. consoles tend to be more relaxed due to the nature of the controller and the nerfs that only console is getting, while the pcers tend to be more "hardcore" players.

also don't let the pc thing deter you too much either because overwatch is an incredibly simple, casual game at its core. you don't need to be all that skilled as a gamer to enjoy it and be good at it. having friends to play with helps immensely.

thanks for clarifying! part of the reason why i was interested was because it looked casual enough that i felt like i could just jump in, so sounds like console version it is. i don't really have a ton of friends who play these types of games so i'll probably be alone when i first start though.

btw, do you mind if i ask which 3 heroes need accuracy? the only one i can guess is widowmaker.

Hanzo is also a sniper character. instead of a scope, he has a ricochet shot and never has to reload (bows don't have ammo clips)

I would guess Soldier: 76 would be the third that calls for accuracy, since he's closest to a traditional shooter character and you need to understand how to aim his rifle to do much. (especially with spread mechanics, spraying and praying can get lucky but isn't terribly effective)

I'd also say aim is useful for McCree. If you aren't close enough to make his fan the hammer effective, you're going to need to aim his revolver. (but that said, mccree seems most frustrating to your enemies when you're good at either sneaking up on or stunning them to deal burst damage, so aiming single shots still might not be the focus of your practice)

I'm terrible at aiming but play on console, and it's no problem since I just play any of the less aim-intensive heroes. Winston and Symmetra, for example, require pretty much no aiming, Junkrat can be great fun even if you're spamming aimlessly, and there are healers or tanks who require little to no aiming ability. Long as you're not playing a sniper or whatever you should be fine!

sounds great then, thanks for explaining. i actually wanted to try out a sniper but well, i can always practice.
