I don't know guys...some people are kind of cliquey. They only tag their castmates or characters played by their friends. It's not everyone, but a few. Reading about all the love in this thread makes me wonder what I'm missing. :(

Then don't tag those people...?

Not all characters are going to mesh well, so if a player isn't prioritizing your tags that doesn't always mean they're a super cliquey player that only tags friends. Even if it's an actual case where a player only threads with a small pool of characters, you can just not thread with that person. Saying that "a few" people might be cliquey doesn't make the whole game cliquey. Stick with the people you're having fun with and don't worry about the others.

Usually when someone's having problems worth mentioning like this, it's because they haven't found anyone who sticks for them yet.

That said, they're usually out there. It sometimes takes much more work to settle a character into a game than you'd think, and sometimes it surprises you which players you're going to get the best CR out of.

I didn't say the whole game was cliquey, so I'm sorry if that's how it sounded. Just wanted to mention that not everyone is so open.

And yeah...I do know who to avoid now.

Have you considered that sometimes people like to tag existing CR when things are exciting for them? And that they might be open to tagging you but just aren't able to for some reason or another?

I haven't gotten the feeling that anyone is cliquey, but if you feel that way, form CR with others. The game has gotten bigger, so you should be able to find other plot and CR!

I feel the same way. But I think it has more to do with the fact that the game is still rather small with a lot of close-knit casts, so it makes it more noticeable than it would be in a larger game.

It's funny, because the only big cast we have is Kingdom Hearts, and that's a very recent addition.

Pretty much everybody prioritizes their CR with their character's partner and then maybe 2-3 others, less because they are cliquey and more because they are either slow players or have the game as their second or third game. It wouldn't mean much in a bigger game, but in this case it means you're SOL and might as well just drop if you can't find a new "good" partner for your character soon.

That said, there are some gems who tag out a lot and will happily let anybody who wants in on plot too.

I've felt this way too. part of the problem is the game really gives players incentive to do a lot with their partner and very little to do anything outside that. the prayer system for example is of no use to anyone except god shinki pairs even though there's no reason why something like babysitting couldn't be done by anyone.

this would have to happen icly but i'd really like to see more characters try to break the nora stigma of the setting too as that would also give us more opportunity to do more with other people.

(Anonymous) 2016-07-04 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
nobody pays attention to the stigma anyway though. and people definitely use it to completely ignore their assigned pairing and go stick to their castmates or friends. if you're going to destroy an entire element of canon at least make a plot out of it that uses the stigma and has actual repercussions.

agreeing with the rest of this though. a couple smaller events in between would be nice but they'd probably have to be player plots, like the hell trip.

(Anonymous) 2016-07-04 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Anon you replied to here.

I agree, that would be nice to see. I'd also love to see more events that aren't party-mingles or team-based. The mods seem all cool with the idea of having some characters go nora and playing that out, but I doubt you'll find many of the current playerbase who would actually want to play out the shunning noras are supposed to get. This game needs more characters willing to stir some serious shit.

+1 i thought the memory loss would encourage a lot more cr but this game is full of cliques.

(Anonymous) 2016-07-04 12:03 pm (UTC)(link)
So crit them? Talk to the mods? Name and shame? You can talk about it all you want here but saying vaguely there are cliques isn't helping much. The problem players will keep being problems if no one specifically calls them out.

(Anonymous) 2016-07-04 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)
yeah because i want to sit and listen to weh weh excuses and apologies and then continue being ignore. no thanks. i've tried reaching out and tagging out and still get ignored and get my threads dropped. i'm just not going to waste time on those people anymore.

(Anonymous) 2016-07-04 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
personally, i never drop threads. nor do i turn away anyone who approaches me for cr. i put myself out there a lot, too, and to my knowledge, you haven't tagged me or approached me about cr. if you had, i would have threaded and plotted with you and the vast majority of the players i've experienced firsthand would have done the same.

i think that you and the other players calling this game cliquey needs to remember that a lot of the characters have only been in this situation a very short period of time due to the 1:3 game pace. i've been in this game three times as long as my character has and while i'm open to new cr, i'm limited by what's ic for them to accomplish in a couple of weeks.

in a game with this kind of pace, it takes more time to find and develop cr that sticks. i'm sorry that you're all struggling with it and hope you find people you enjoy playing with.
