think things like "my hat was stoolen (stolen) by ichigo" or "nohting (nothing) naoto does matters anymore" that are completely easy to decipher.

i've seen people denounce certain subbers as Terrible Awful and No Good for making a single typo. and the mild cases where they say "very disappointed about the mangled subs, but otherwise good episode."

i can't imagine giving an actul shit about this kind of stuff.

I think about how pathetic they are that one lousy little typo bothers them so much.

Personally I handle it in one of two ways:

1. I suggest that they offer their help to the group or they try to sub the anime themselves. That often shuts them up because they are too entitled to actually spend their time to help out or have no ability to provide something of similar or better quality.
2. This one only works if they make some sort of error in their whining, but point out that they obviously aren't much better since they typoed the same amount or more in a short post/comment.

this is why i roll my eyes at people thinking the shitty subs for season three of sailor moon crystal is a valid reason to dislike it

they're not as bad as they could be, and we don't HAVE to have access to these episodes the very same day japan does

people are just pissy that the show's actually worth watching now

sorry, but crystal's subs are offensively bad

basic grammar is frequently thrown out, sentence structure is google translate tier, and it occasionally straight up gets shit wrong

they are SHITTY SUBS

"well okay, but we could have no subs" - the only reason why fansubbing is dead is because simulcasts took over the market with a legal option, commie did the first season. they weren't as fast, sure, but at least they knew how to translate.

"wow look at these entitled fans" - they're free for a lot of us who are pirating smc but crunchy and hulu are PAID SERVICES. simulcasts aren't actually free most of the time.

and seriously it's just bad form to be a "professional subber" and cock up when people would happily do it better for free, especially because i know for a fact professional subbers get closed captions so they don't even get the excuse of mishearing or not being able to plug words into jisho if they don't understand something

Because fansubbing has been dead for years now and most people use Crunchy rips which are fast and decent for the most part?

It's called Horrible Subs for a reason folks
