Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

curiosity compels me to do a poll, how many of you would be weirded out by getting a tag on an old (say 3-6 months old) thread vs welcome it? would you tag back? ignore it? would it matter to you if the thread was 2 or 10 comments in?

(Anonymous) 2016-06-15 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
depends. depends on how into playing that character i am, or how into the thread i am. two or ten comments doesnt matter to me, nor really does time if the other party feels like investing in it again, but if i'm not up for playing out that theme or with that character again, i'd likely ignore it.

it wouldn't weird me out at all, and the prior length of the thread wouldn't matter to me.

i'd tag back if:
-i was still playing the character in question and the thread still interested me
-the tag was really good and didn't require me to read back through the entire old thread for context to it
-i had enough time currently to add in another thread to what i'm already busy with

i'd ignore it if:
-i no longer play that character
-the tag or thread was never that engaging to begin with
-i couldn't tell enough of what was going on from the newest tag to get back into it

if you're going to tag after such a long time when you gave no explanation for your lengthy disappearance, bring your a-game and hope for the best.

+1

I wouldn't be weirded out, but the odds that I could get back into a thread that old are very low.

i'd probably appreciate a pm first with some explanation for delay and to see whether i'm still into it, but if the thread was otherwise going well or had discussed potential then it's generally not an issue. certainly i've received tags after longer downtime

i wouldnt find it weird but like above anon theres a high chance i just wouldnt be feeling it

(Anonymous) 2016-06-15 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
i've had some threads i've really liked dropped, so if it was one of those i'd be back at it in an instance. otherwise, i may or may not tag it, depending on how i'm feeling.

(Anonymous) 2016-06-15 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
Not at all. I'd review the thread and do the best I could.

(Anonymous) 2016-06-15 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
I'd probably ignore it unless the person explained what happened a little. I don't need a long tl;dr explanation, but I'd want some reassurance that I wouldn't have to wait another 3-6 months for a second reply.

(Anonymous) 2016-06-15 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
depends. after that length of time i might not still be playing the character, or i might be playing them differently enough that the thread would have gone differently, or i've gotten over the kink or concept that drove me to be interested in the thread in the first place.

i'll definitely have a moment of "how did you even still have this" but i'll most likely conclude that some kind of rl bullshit hit you hard for awhile and you're just now getting back to rp, and that's not weird. assuming no other red flags, just getting a late tag back isn't enough to weird me out.

if none of the above things has happened to make me not care about the thread anymore, i'll still tag it back. but there's a really high chance of one of those things happening. if i was really into the thread before, i might drop you a pm like "hey i'd love to rp something because i really liked that thread but i've kinda lost the feel for that one, anything else you want to do?"

if i got a tag back on a thread 3 months later on a thread that didn't go beyond 10 comments, i'd drop it and probably never tag with that player again. ain't nobody got time for that bullshit. one tag a week is painful enough as it is.

(Anonymous) 2016-06-15 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
just tag me back already gdi

(Anonymous) 2016-06-15 07:10 am (UTC)(link)
probably a little weirded out unless there was a known reason. either way i doubt i'd reply.

(Anonymous) 2016-06-15 03:10 pm (UTC)(link)
it would depend on a few factors, though i can't imagine why i'd ever be weirded out by it. if it's a meme/psl that was lighthearted and i was still feeling the character, i'd tag back. if it was a more involved thread, it might be harder because it's difficult for me to get back into certain head space after a long time, but i would make an effort to tag back in the hopes that i could get back into it.

if it was a game thread, that's trickier. in this case, chances are more likely that i'd let the thread drop, though i'd pm the person and let them know there are no hard feelings and ask them if they'd like to work on a new thread (assuming one tag every 3-6 months isn't their usual pace). it's possible i might tag back, if it was an important thread i'd been waiting on. it all depends on the circumstances.

but i would never be weirded out by it. the fact that anyone would be is weird to me.

the question is does it seem like it's going somewhere? is it a meme? in game?

if it's in game it probably isn't going to be relevant to whatever is going on and while i appreciate it, lbr it's gonna be a lazy flake trying to get back in good graces and OH YOU DON'T HAVE TO REPLY IF YOU DON'T WANT TO I JUST WANTED TO CLEAR MY INBOX TEE HEE but meme usually means hey shit happens, i don't owe you any kind of explanation (which is fine), and i'm tagging back because i want to tag you again.

if it's texting on either i might not reply, but memes i'm more likely to reply no matter how old even if it's a new tag on a very old post. people post sporadically or might not be able to find them or just want to rp and not dick and dance around little conversations to get a thread started.

mostly if it's a boring person i won't or someone who will probably do it again and a lot. otherwise i'm in, tag me and i'll tag you literally into eternity.
