This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. i had the same experience. i was playing an obscure canon character. i did find several live action characters, mostly OCs, but they were vastly outnumbered.

i had this exact same problem for ages when i used firefox and ended up having chrome on my computer just for icon downloading. it's definitely a well known problem.

with the caveat that I haven't played the games, the Hawke & the Iron Bull are WONDERFUL. both are a joy to plot with, a joy to talk with oocly, and are always up for silly shenanigans. our Lavellan's newer than the two of them so I haven't threaded with them yet, but I've got the player on plurk and they seem like a total sweetheart as well.

if it were an extended hiatus of a week+ of being totally unable to do mod or rp things, yes

but a mod's life does not need to revolve around their volunteer job 24/7, and they are allowed to have lives outside of it

feeling down and shitty about something and not wanting to do as much with it is not something that needs to be announced to the game every time it happens

do you think mods owe it to their playerbase to give all players a running update on how often they are doing game-related things - how often they are tagging, working on apps, working on behind the scenes stuff, or other game-related things?
