Amat was sex-or-die, so not really. It's more Eudio mixed with elements of some non-sex games.

Re: GAME IDEAS

eudio would be the consent part and the goddesses would be the amat part. it's not mixed with non-sex games at all. it's eudio and amat/ophiucus-zodion. gods/goddesses are done to death in sex games. appease/save/resurrect the gods/goddesses. that's nothing new for smut. in fact, it's more likely to have gods/goddesses for smut than other games.

Do you have any suggestions for something else the energy could power?

perhaps some kind of magical tech keeping up a barrier that's keeping out keku and the monsters?

You can make the game you want, I just don't think you'll have many takers.

this. if you have magic and tech, it seems more likely to have it be involved in that than in gods/goddesses. it's like you're trying to mesh old-fantasy with new-fantasy with the deities. make it planetary tech. the planet's core has been supplemented with tech and magic, and the energy's fading, which is leaving the planet with the potential to crumble. lack of energy could result in earthquakes/monsoons/storms/disasters. it'd give you a sort of final fantasy element.

How about the energy powers a magical shield keeping Keku out of the universe. All the magical gauntlets that fight monster incursions draw from that energy, too.

There's an ancient artifact under the city that they use to perform all the incentive miracles. It takes less energy to do the miracles than each person puts into it over their time in the city, so it's worth expending the power to do the miracles because they get energy back tenfold from each person. Over time they hope if they charge it with enough energy that it'll shield their world permanently or even destroy Keku.

I'd still like to have a religion with two sex-positive goddesses that were in love. The society has to believe in something, so having the religion have two gods or goddesses in love at the core is a good way to root it in something sex positive and lovey-dubby. But that's pushed back to just background instead of being the premise.

where do you draw the line at 'kink', though? why no dubcon/noncon, but incest/pedo would be allowed? or bestiality? or anthro sex? or any other number of things that are considered heavy, triggery kinks? i don't mind dubcon/noncon, but that said, it's not something i play often, if at all, especially in a game. i think a lot of games have a knee jerk reaction to the idea of noncon/dubcon in that if it's there, the game will turn into some prison rape game and that's just not the case. even in games that have allowed for it, like amat and coa, there wasn't exactly a flood of rape threads being played out. if you want a game that allows for conflict and negative aspects but has a consensual theme, having a base for consent doesn't have to mean that noncon or dubcon can't be played with the right warnings. if both parties are cool with it, it's not like it's being pulled out of someone's ass. and it would be locked and warned for. and dubcon, maybe someone wants to play with a semi-consensual theme of using a little aphro or dealing with the concept of not being sure of something. again, as long as it's warned for and locked, it shouldn't be a problem.

it just doesn't make sense if you can have consensual guro/vore/incest in a game, but hey, no dubcon. obviously it's going to be your game and you can do what you want, but with oddly placed allowances, people are going to not be sure about it. and ftr, you can make it a fluffy intimacy cuddle game and allow for other options because hey, welcome to life. we have all that stuff here. it just depends on how you go about outlining the game. if you say 'brought in consensually and characters need to be willing to be intimate, but kinks/dubcon/noncon is allowed with x rules/guidelines', that's it. that's what you need to do. you can do it, and frankly, we could use a game that does mix consent and non consent. but if you don't want to, that's another kettle of fish.

it kind of sounds like you have an idea that you have set and don't want to deviate from. in that case, don't ask for advice and just put out what you're doing and if anyone else wants to do it for you. the society doesn't have to believe in anything and there are plenty of canons that have magitech that don't revolve around religions. there's also plenty that do, but you seem to be really hot on having lesbian goddesses, so... yeah.

Re: GAME IDEAS

I'd like a game rooted in IC consent like Eudio. Obviously any noncon or dubcon has ooc consent, and that's why morally there's nothing wrong with people playing it. But in a setting where nonconsensual things can and do happen to characters, some characters just wouldn't risk it and stay in the setting.

And if it is ic consent based, both parties need to have the capacity to give consent, so that'd mean no pedo/shota (since that's statutory) or bestiality (because animals intellectually can't give consent). Probably not kinks like vore where someone dies, even if it was consensual death, since it'd be hard for the authorities to be sure it's not just murder. Anthros, I don't see a problem with, if both parties are sentient and able to consent. People might not like it but they can just not read. Incest, if both parties are adults, and one doesn't have power over the other (like the Mamimoff twins) also allowed. I don't like it personally, but it's unlikely to make any other characters feel unsafe in the setting.

Overall, the only IC requirements would be that they have to have come to the city willingly, any acts of intimacy have to be consensual for both parties, both parties have to be able to legally give consent, and both parties have to not die.

Beyond that, that still leaves a wide open array of kinks, including some unpopular ones like incest, because there are lots of kinks that don't have to do with consent.

Re: GAME IDEAS

(Anonymous) 2016-06-15 01:59 pm (UTC)(link)
It really doesn't matter how it's done, but I'd like to establish solid roots in the society's culture and history for them having sex-positive attitudes. Religion's an easy way to establish that.

Re: GAME IDEAS

tbh, i don't think you're giving people enough credit, anon.

"But in a setting where nonconsensual things can and do happen to characters, some characters just wouldn't risk it and stay in the setting."

unless you're in a canon/setting that's a child's show, the idea of nonconsensual things happening is something that every character always has to deal with in their canon. as i said, welcome to the real world. a lot of canons have noncon things and deal with lack of autonomy, even something done by disney (hello, marvel. welcome to bucky's been mindwiped, hawkeye's an evil puppet, and wanda makes everyone relive their worst fears) can have aspects that are nonconsensual. most canons have the possibility. it just doesn't come up until it does (canons with rape/molestation as themes, ie; ahs, orphan black, veronica mars, oz). giving characters a chance to play in a consensual place where they get rewarded for hugs is great and i'm not trying to say you can't have that or shouldn't have that. but the idea that a character isn't going to take the offer without explicit guarantees that nothing noncon/dubcon will happen when the incentive is a magic wish that grants them almost anything they want takes more suspension of disbelief than people acknowledging that bad things happen no matter where you go because humans are the common factor and sentient beings are fucked up.

like i said, do what you want, but just call a spade a spade and say you just don't want dubcon/noncon in your game and not that characters might not join because...

a lot of the reasons some people don't join eudio is a mix of there being nothing to do beyond sol stuff, and the complete inability to have anything negative happen. because people do like conflict. and the ones that want to play it will play it and the ones that don't won't. giving people an opportunity isn't going to sink your game and it won't be a rape game. it'll just be a sex game where you have an incentive to join, isn't a jamjar, you get rewards, and hey, maybe you get to play out dirty things.

I said I'd take on the shield idea, because that's a good suggestion. Also the artifact would have nothing to do with their religion, it'd just be ancient unexplained tech that can perform the miracles the city pays people in, because something has to have the capacity to do that. If they had miracle-making tech they totally understood they'd already have banished the main threat, so making it something ancient and hard for them to control can explain how they do the miracles but haven't figured out how to fix the threat yet.

And I'm a bi woman, anon. I just find the idea of a society with a religion grounded in two women being in love cute. And different from a single god or goddess or a pantheon. I can drop it, though.

you don't actually need it beyond you wanting it. lots of canons have societies that have evolved to know that sex and intimacy are totally natural (star trek has the pleasure planet). religion as a base could actually cause more friction for characters that have their own or that think religion's stupid.

Too anal for memes, which is ironic given the amount of smut prompts there are out there. Anyways, I'm finding a much better time in games where there are top levels to respond to and regular CR to build, so in that case at least you know I won't be rubbing you the wrong way if you know what I mean.

html and css are not programming, html is a markup language (used to format and lay out text, like we do in comments). web design can involve programming, but simple html markup does not.

not to insult you, your comment's otherwise great, but just saying.

That is equally shitty etiquette as wandering into a blank post to ask for a starter. Shame on the people who do that.

My basic beef with the current meme structure (and I mean blank starters) is that it has encouraged so much laziness and uncertainty on both sides over the last few years that the spontaneity is sucked out of it. We're all too old for that shit: everyone's gotten so many flakes and weirdos and near misses that they refuse to put the effort in, but off the cuff effort was what helped distinguish meme threads from game ones.

Probably just too salty and as other anon mentioned, so anal you could barely fit a lemon seed up there let alone a whole citrus delight. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I have probs with the system, man.

Re: THE LEGION

(Anonymous) 2016-06-15 02:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Fun Silver Age facts:

The Legion didn't allow members who had the same powers as existing members, even if theirs were better versions. The only exceptions were Superboy, Supergirl, Lightning Lad, and Lightning Lass, until the rule was revoked later.

The Legion was explicitly a super hero club, where members filled their time with video games, dancing, and plugging themselves into machines that would decide who'd have the most fun kissing who.

The Legion had a rule that they had to have their headquarters on Earth.

You couldn't be in the Legion if you were over 18. It was kids only. (Later stories would have this rule revoked.)

If you got married, you had to leave the Legion. (Another rule later revoked.)

The Legion decided who would go on a mission by sitting in front of a model of the solar system (with the planets attached by wires) and setting it to spin. Whoever got hit first would be the mission leader. The other members of the team would be decided by whoever got hit by the other planets when their wires broke.

All of the black people in the world went to an island off the coast of Africa and moved it to another dimension. The member Tyroc the Screamer, whose power was that his screams could warp reality and whose schtick was that he constantly angry, came from there. (Later retconned to the island being full of alternate reality refugees and black people were still a part of future society.)

Lightning Lass posed as her brother for months after he died.

Lightning Lad never really came back to life. It was the Legion's pet shapeshifter, Proty, who took on Lightning Lad's form and powers and posed as Lightning Lad for years.

The Legion kept a pair of sentient shapeshifting blobs as pets, even though the blobs were just as intelligent as they were. The second was named Proty II, like that goldfish from your childhood.

The Legion was too intimidated by Superman to ask Superboy to join them, so they recruited Supergirl first and Superboy later via time travel. When they recruited Supergirl, she already knew about them because Superman told her about the adventures he had with them as a boy, so they originally claimed to be the identical children of the original team.

Every time Superboy went home, they erased his knowledge of the future so he wouldn't cause any paradoxes. This didn't stop him from building a device that could see into the future so that he'd know he'd become best friends with Bruce Wayne after his parents were murdered.

Ultra Boy's real name is Jo Nah. He got his powers by being swallowed by a space whale.

One of the writers of the Legion, Jim Shooter, got the job at 14 years old. A few years later, he wrote up some rather crude sexual notes describing the sex lives of various members, including comments that one member was essentially the team bicycle while one couple was very eager to share their bed and experiment. This being the 60s/70s, he kept writing for a few years after that.
