rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

i'd probably appreciate a pm first with some explanation for delay and to see whether i'm still into it, but if the thread was otherwise going well or had discussed potential then it's generally not an issue. certainly i've received tags after longer downtime

probably because some mentally stunted child got introduced to the concept and is running it into the ground until they're bored with it, and they consider any reaction, including vague dismissal, a success.

a cursed item meme. something like the beginning of the cabin in the woods, where people have options for different cursed items and different scenarios the items will put them in.

scenarios can range from typical horror movie shit (stuck in a cabin in the woods, unlocked a gate to hell, woke a killer up from the dead, etc) to fairy tale shit (cursed to sleep, be trapped in a tower, to look like a beast/llama, etc) to more mundane, ridiculous shit (like every gallon of milk they put in their fridge expires instantly or their netflix is doomed to buffer every five minutes no matter how good their net connection is). so, something for the people who want more serious scenarios vs more light-hearted ones.

I've got a crossdressing guy who might work for the younger, in this case. Sadly most of my older guys are either too old or too nice for this scenario. PM "robinofsockly" if you're interested.

i've had some threads i've really liked dropped, so if it was one of those i'd be back at it in an instance. otherwise, i may or may not tag it, depending on how i'm feeling.

if the problem wasn't that person before, after that sort of attitude, it sure is then. don't do this.

then maybe tell them it isn't them instead of being avoidant???

they can't read your mind, either. some clear communication is needed on both sides of this sort of thing if neither party wants to be "walking on eggshells".

Question! I'm playing a medieval character in a game with a network for the first time in about a year. Does anyone have tips for avoiding the usual pitfalls of a character that shouldn't know how to work technology? He's smart and can read minds, so picking up how to use the device won't take quite as long as some. It's not that I want to completely avoid the learning curve, but I'm not really interested in playing out the usual 'I have no idea how to work this/the device gets accidentally turned on fiddling around with it/I text without using the space bar' cliches.

then just... don't do any of those things? couch your intro post in him having had time to figure this stuff out. you can acknowledge it being awkward, uncomfortable, or unintuitive without resorting to cliches or making that the entire point of the post.

Not the OP but if ever you want to do anything with this, I'm always down for whipping up OCs and doing something.

I'd probably ignore it unless the person explained what happened a little. I don't need a long tl;dr explanation, but I'd want some reassurance that I wouldn't have to wait another 3-6 months for a second reply.

The mechanics are genuinely the hardest part, but talking it out with other players helps immensely. Everyone is very friendly OOCLY, even if your characters don't mesh they'll help you out if you need it.

depends. after that length of time i might not still be playing the character, or i might be playing them differently enough that the thread would have gone differently, or i've gotten over the kink or concept that drove me to be interested in the thread in the first place.

i'll definitely have a moment of "how did you even still have this" but i'll most likely conclude that some kind of rl bullshit hit you hard for awhile and you're just now getting back to rp, and that's not weird. assuming no other red flags, just getting a late tag back isn't enough to weird me out.

if none of the above things has happened to make me not care about the thread anymore, i'll still tag it back. but there's a really high chance of one of those things happening. if i was really into the thread before, i might drop you a pm like "hey i'd love to rp something because i really liked that thread but i've kinda lost the feel for that one, anything else you want to do?"

Monster-related requests!

1) Relationship between monster/human where the monster is naive/isn't familiar with sex and its human partner wants to shows it how it's done.

2) Relationship between monster/human where the monster is masquerading as human and is trying not to show off its monstrous nature, but during a tryst it can't help itself and reveals itself - human partner is surprised but is totally down with it.

I'd love to play the monster in this and I'm up for whatever kind of xenobiology you're into. Willing to play m/m, m/f, and I'm totally a-okay with OCs and AUs! Leave a sock if you're interested.

so skip it? i don't see why this is complicated enough to require advice. no one's going to judge you or probably even notice, everyone is just as sick of it as you are
