that depends heavily on the job. lots of telecommuting jobs still have you as part of a team, particularly if the job is in IT. you still have to communicate and work with your team members, you're just doing it over a skype chat instead of in person.

The job market is horrifying. Employers that hire 'per project' are trying to screw people over with rates that would be far below minimum wage. I need money, but I've felt it would be morally wrong to even accept these type of jobs. It's hard to even live off of minimum wage in this area with how expensive it is. To try and live off of what 1/8 minimum wage would be - and have to work your ass off and meet absurd deadlines - would be impossible.

The worst part is that people a generation above me or two generations back don't get it at all. They had a chance to get their foot in the door and establish relationships. I graduated during the recession and nothing was there. All these years later and the well is still dry.
