i'm still overweight (morbidly obese, by my doctor's bmi chart) and i don't overeat or eat unhealthy. i'm just not into exercise/have limited mobility because of disabilities, so i don't burn enough off. but my weight isn't from shoving fast food in my mouth (i know my doctor's given me that 'y the fuck u lyin'' look when i've told him what i eat on a day to day basis before because clearly i must be eating nothing but junk food to be morbidly obese.)

so there are mitigating factors as to why someone might be overweight. maybe they have limited mobility. maybe they have a shitty metabolism. maybe they're on medication that slows that shitty metabolism down even more. maybe they do shovel fast food into their face at an alarming rate. it's just annoying and it's why you get people getting offended when the blanket remark is 'all fatties are fat because of poor eating' when that's not always or even often the case.

diet has a lot more to do with weight than activity does tho

and btw you don't have to eat junk to get fat. "healthy" foods like oils, avocados, and nuts have a ton of calories for their portion sizes

(Anonymous) 2016-05-05 06:02 pm (UTC)(link)
a list of what i'll eat on any given day.
a mug of tea
my meal of the day, which can be anything from pasta+meat of some kind (kd w/tuna or beef, pasta and sauce w/chicken/beef/pork), or rice+meat (half a cup of rice and half a chicken breast or small pork chop), or 2 pancakes w/honey or jam or peanut butter.
maybe a half bowl of cereal (cheerios or shreddies) or if i have it, yogurt or cottage cheese w/fruit 6+ hours later if i'm still hungry before bed.
water throughout the day. (orange/apple juice if i had enough to get some)

i have a limited diet as i have a stomach disorder and food intolerances and i can only afford cheap as shit food since i'm on welfare. so it's a really bad combo of not having the best diet (not eating a few small meals a day instead of one medium sized one), and not having the funds for healthier foods/better eating habits. food banks don't really help and you sure as hell don't get healthy alternatives from them. the most unhealthy things i've eaten have been things i've gotten from the food bank. after a certain point, you just stop caring about how many calories are in what and you look at what you can afford that will last you the month, but i don't think i get anything that's too bad. i'm just not active, and that doesn't help. (can't eat nuts and i don't use oils in my food. i do on occasion (like every 3-4 months) snag an avocado, but it's not something i use all in one sitting and it's not often enough to have a serious effect on my caloric intake).

i'm so tired of whiny bitches going "but i eat good food! why am i not skinny?"

bitch, your body doesn't judge where the calories come from. if there are more calories in you than your body can burn off, the fuel turns to fat. it doesn't matter where the calories come from.

fuck's sake!

Re: +1000

(Anonymous) 2016-05-19 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
uh

no

what

by this logic you could eat nothing bit chips and candy and be perfectly healthy as long as you didn't eat too much of it, and that's patently not true

your body absolutely cares where its calories come from

Re: +1000

(Anonymous) 2016-05-19 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
>you could eat nothing bit chips and candy and be perfectly healthy

no one said that you'd be HEALTHY if you ate nothing but chips and candy. what was said was that you could still be skinny eating just that as long as you didn't eat too much of it. you can eat below your calorie limit with just junk and be skinny, or you could eat nothing but an excess of organic produce and product that blows your calorie limit and still get fat

healthy food =/= automatically skinny. the calories in those healthy foods still count

that was the point

(Anonymous) 2016-05-07 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
If you're overweight then you're overeating. The fat doesn't mysteriously materialize on your body because of your ~conditions~, except for maybe up to 15 lbs if your thyroid is exceptionally fucked up.

PS eating 'healthy' has fuck all to do with weight. It's possible to lose weight on a diet of twinkies and cheeseburgers so long as you only eat so many of them.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-07 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
no. if i'm overweight, it's because i'm not active enough to burn off the regular amount (or under regular amount) i eat. activity is part of it and with little to no activity, healthy or even under healthy amounts of food is just going to keep being fat. i know i'm undereating. my body is turning everything into fat because i can't eat enough and it's storing it for those times where i don't eat (yes, there are days i can't eat). so sorry, but i'm not going to sit here and be told that i'm overeating when i'm not. if i ate any less, i'd have more health issues than i do. i'm sedentary, not a fucking pig.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-07 08:12 am (UTC)(link)
you're also full of fatlogic. without weighing your portions or tracking your calories incredibly carefully, INCLUDING the things you cook with not just the things you're eating, you can't say for sure what you're eating at. bodies don't work the way you say they work. there is a such thing as starvation mode, sort of, but you literally have to be nearly starving to death before it kicks in. and you know what? people who are starving to death aren't fat

(Anonymous) 2016-05-07 08:20 am (UTC)(link)
if i'm having a half cup of rice and a half chicken breast grilled up (with no butter or salt) and cut up into the rice, i don't know what world you live in where that's enough for me to get any sort of fat from. if my secondary meal of the day is a half bowl of plain cheerios, those two things together will not a tubbo make. but if i'm sitting all day and not moving much/at all, there's a likelier chance that it'll turn into fat instead of being burned off.

i literally want to have someone follow me around for a week and watch what i eat to try to explain to me where all this fat is coming from, because when i brought in my food diary (which i kept for a month because my doctor didn't believe me) and showed him, he told me 'if this is correct', meaning he didn't believe me still, that i was undereating and that was part of my problem. so yea, bodies work exactly like that and you don't need to be starving every day to be in starvation mode. if you're eating for three days and not for one, then eating for another six and then not for one, your body is fucked up and starts to store everything as fat. it just does. if you can't understand that, then you've never been on a poor person's diet where you don't get to eat every day and where, yes, you get fat because of your yoyo eating habits.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-07 08:30 am (UTC)(link)
no. it doesn't. fat comes from an excess. that's literally what fat is. your body burns calories even if you're sedentary just to keep you alive and your organs functioning. if you're 'not eating enough' then all the calories you do eat will be immediately going straight to all your necessary bodily functions

if those calories are turning in to fat, it's because your body can't use them. they are extra. starvation mode doesn't really work the way you think it does. it doesn't make starving people suddenly pack on pounds when they're about to starve to death, it's a process the body goes through of dropping your metabolism to dangerous levels and shutting down your least necessary bodily functions so it can make the few calories you are getting stretch further for the things that are really important

it generally takes an excess of 3500 calories to make 1 pound of fat. let that sink in. that's not me bullshitting you, that's hard factual science

you're either not taking something in to account, you're a secret eater, or you binge every so often and aren't saying so

(Anonymous) 2016-05-07 08:48 am (UTC)(link)
i don't have the money to binge eat. that's why i've got such a shitty diet in the first place. and 'generally' isn't always. bodies are weird, strange things. sedentary lifestyles have just as much to account for fat people as much as overeating does. and the article that started this proves that your 'general' is bullshit, as some of them are eating under 1500 calories a day and are still gaining weight because of slowed metabolisms. there are just too many factors to add into things and you can't blanket say 'this does this' when that's not true.

but if you want to believe i'm secretly shoving food in my mouth, go ahead. it's not going to change the fact that i'm not because i can barely afford to eat, let alone binge eat. i can't secret eat food i don't have. but actual facts don't seem to matter to you, so whatever.

btw, that not eating every now and then thing? that's also called fasting

if what you're saying is true, everyone who practices religious fasting should be obese

(Anonymous) 2016-05-07 08:49 am (UTC)(link)
people fasting for religions do it once a year for a set amount of time. i do it randomly throughout the month, every month, all year, because i can't afford to eat. not eating fucks your system up. it's why after fasting, people can't eat the normal amount of food they're used to. your stomach shrinks when you stop eating.

Have you seen the bloated stomachs of starving children

Because I have

Because I work with homeless people

So yeah, fuck off

(Anonymous) 2016-05-08 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
bloat =/= fat

(Anonymous) 2016-05-08 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
have you seen how many fat homeless people there are? like, legit homeless and not i'm running away from home because school sucks and my parents don't love me.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-08 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
oh my fucking god

if you think the bloated stomach of a starving child (which is not made up of belly fat) is even remotely the same thing as an obese motherfucker, you are the dumbest person alive and you really need to educate your damn self

(Anonymous) 2016-05-08 04:15 pm (UTC)(link)
stop working with homeless people, because you don't understand the difference between bloating and fat. you don't have enough understanding of the human body to be helping people.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-07 01:32 pm (UTC)(link)
You realize that starvation mode as most people understand it is a myth, right? The participants in the study that discovered it only stopped losing weight after a month of an extreme calorie deficit while marching 20+ miles every day, and even then only after they'd alreayd lost around half their body weight. Your body is not 'hanging on' to fat in case you don't eat for a day or two.

Losing weight on a sedentary lifestyle isn't only possible, it's incredibly simple. Your argument that you can't lose weight because you never go on walks is bullshit. Anyone will tell you that diet is 90% of weight loss because even a 20 minute jog will burn less than 300 calories.

You're fat because you overeat.

Re: ayrt

(Anonymous) 2016-05-07 02:34 pm (UTC)(link)
and i'm telling you that that is factually incorrect, since there is no way in any measure of any existence that anyone would look at my diet and call me an overeater. you know absolutely nothing of what you're speaking and obviously have no interest in actually learning or figuring anything out since you've decided arbitrarily that fat = overeating. any attempt to prove it will be met with 'sure whatever lmao liar', so i'm done. you'll believe what you want to, which is the not-truth, and i'll know that i'm fat regardless of the fact that i don't overeat.

Re: ayrt

(Anonymous) 2016-05-07 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
You're why people around you have eating disorders.

I hope you lose a sibling or friend to it so you can learn how awful you are.

fat people already have an eating disorder

isn't it a little extreme to hope someone has a loved one die due to an eating disorder because they don't like fat people
