Welcome to the Nexus

	There was once a place where characters from across the known (and unknown) universes could gather, share their joy, their woes, their troubles, and have their questions answered. That place was the Nexus, meeting-place of the multiverse. Initially founded in 2004, the Great Fall of Livejournal RP signaled its end. That is until a few intrepid and nostalgic souls got together and decided to revive their favourite place to play. Welcome (back) to The Nexus! The place where our sagacious advice columnists from almost every fandom imaginable dedicate themselves to aiding, assisting, and advising you in every possible area of your life. No question is too small or insignificant. We'll help you grapple with everything from the vast and cosmic to the daily minutiae of existence. the whole reason we need a new dressing room comm like this in the first place is because of them and selwyn running rampant all over sws and the mod there refusing to do anything about it

Thanks so much for your support. It really does mean a lot to us! We missed the Nexus terribly.

It's not our intention to try and replace any other community or siphon off anyone's cast lists though. I personally think Bakerstreet is a great place to test out muses or when you just want to play a silly scene. (Even if there seem to be a lot of smut memes on there lately which aren't really my cup of tea.)

Hopefully we can all learn to co-exist, but Sages will welcome anyone who would like to join us with open arms. \o/

since we're talking about bans and behaviors to watch for, i'm curious what your stance will be on certain cliques taking over the dr. the reason sws/www/smuttysws are the way they are now isn't just because or even mostly in part due to that master or selwyn. it's the damn marvel clique that 'icly' harasses anyone that tries to play there that doesn't fit in with their little 'game verse'. they've all picked one singular verse to play in so anyone coming in is like coming into a game already in play, only no one knows the rules. the players in there have icly harassed characters by becoming vocal sjw mouthpieces that harangue people that say things they don't like. it's uncomfortable to watch and it's the largest reason i don't play in either comm. i don't have characters that 'fit in' with them and while i can and have posted my own posts, they're either answered by them trying to drag my char into their 'game', or the remarks are snide and rude and generally an attempt to kick people out of their playground.

how would you deal with this if they start to do the same to this dr?

First, because I've been out of journal RP for a while and am behind on things: "dr"?

As for cliques: we're hoping to avoid them. If we see any harassment, it'll be dealt with. First we'll ask them OOC to stop, and if they don't we'll start banning people. If people are just super not into playing outside their own canon, I'll probably suggest they start their own comm.

idk it's weird, certainly, but it's not really hurting anyone in the way that that fucking nutjob who played the boston bomber was. i avoided those people back in the day cause they were without exception kind of peculiar but i can't get behind it being banworthy. not when we have actual serious toxic nutjobs to police in dwrp.

The Nexus' unofficial motto used to be "The Nexus: We know drama." I guess we haven't shaken that off yet.

But like Manlymod says, we got a lot of good feedback, and we've already made some additions and changes to take it into account. So I'd say it was all worthwhile. :)

So for someone who wasn't at the original, I'm a little confused by this community.

Can you explain the premise and mechanics a little more?

Well, it's very player-driven. We don't have an overarching plot, we don't have a really confined setting. The "Nexus" is a place in between all possible realities (basically this allows people to be from anywhere). How your characters end up there, and why, and how (and whether) they get home again is up to the players. It can be a magic spell gone wrong, a transporter accident, or a door suddenly appearing in the back of the closet.

People can add whatever they need to the setting. They need a treehouse? Boom, there's a treehouse. Or the stuff to build a treehouse. You want to arrange for your character and their new friends to go to the water park for the day? Okay, there's a convenient water park now, take the next three rights and then spin around three times and spit so you don't offend the thing from the high place.

You can do pretty much whatever you want. You want your Starfleet Ensign to learn magic? Send them to Hogwarts! You've got an aspect of an ancient Greek god in your head who wants to be a NASCAR driver? Sure, why not? It's all good.

I honestly can't tell you really specific things that are going to happen, because I don't know what's going to happen. It's all very collaborative, very communal. Sometimes it's a lot of talking and getting to know other people, sometimes we have a Ren Faire, sometimes random chaos magic or someone mischievous has left out candy that gender-switches people.

On the subject of preemptive bans- there is one that I know other people have problems with and I have personal evidence toward them trying to disregard requests of not tagging them that I'd rather not even have to see: specifically the person who plays kittysdragon, irredeemed_ant, and I believe also a Ghost Rider and Captain Britain, though the usernames escape me at the moment but I'm sure other anons can verify. This player is known for pushing their characters and kinks on players who have repeatedly asked them to stop. I can log in for verification that I'm the person being harassed if that's something else you need.

I've played with the Ghost Rider before and I can vouch for them that they're not That Antman.
