Okay

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

Potential apper here, curious about - well, how much do things actually happen in this game? I like the piratey premise but cannot stand overwhelming slice of life interrupted by occasional events. Is there action? Treasure hunting? Quests? Plots?

http://highseasmods.dreamwidth.org/13296.html <- This post does a good job of covering how gameplay is expected to work. Honestly, most of the burden is placed on the players to make their own action, so if you want to get out and DO things, find a likeminded crew and go for it.

Some crews are definitely better than others at utilizing the setting and making their own things to do, so it might be a good idea to take a look at the log comm and see who's doing things and who is just spinning their wheels endlessly on the boat before joining up with one.

^What the above anon said, and that How To link is probably the most helpful. The monthly events are pretty good at spicing things up and sometimes they last for a full week but other than that it's dependent on the playerbase and your own worldbuilding.

There are several crews that set up their own things to do every month and pick islands to explore and are generally more active than some of the other ships. The ones I'm a part of regularly set up plurks that are basically "Okay guys what do you want to do this month?" and they'll poll ideas to pick some weird island to get stuck on or engage the Navy or just whatever event the crewmates come up with.
