Okay

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

What games accept historical figures from published fiction? I have an Abigail Adams I'd possibly like to put somewhere.

Mmmmmost of them? I can't think of any games that have said no historical figures even if they're being pulled from a published fictional work.

maskormenace and asgard both say no, don't they?

[community profile] paradisa does, and they have a few characters from the same time period –– Connor and Haytham Kenway from Assassin's Creed. They're familiar with Samuel Adams and George Washington, so they'd have people in common with Abigail :)

Oh, I didn't realize they had gained a Haytham, how lovely! Thank you for the suggestion, Anon, I will take a poke around.

SERIAL KILLER-TYPE VILLAINS

i'm just getting back into dwrp and i'm in the process of doing some game-shopping for a particular character type, so i thought i'd ask for advice — what are some games that would be a good fit for a serial killer?

i'm looking for a place where i can explore the interesting social psychology aspect of the character (possibly dysfunctional relationships, etc.) but where they can also fulfill their need on occasion without completely disrupting a game — a place where they don't have to be domesticated to the point of being unrecognizable or ooc, basically. i realize i'd have to put in work on properly integrating a character of this type into any new environment for them (esp. in dwrp since permadeath is often unheard of) and i'm especially excited about and welcome to the ic consequences aspect since a few of the canons i'm thinking of usually tiptoe around this, but i'm having more trouble right now at finding good game fits than i am at filtering out bad ones (e.g. holly heights). what are some of the good rp environments for this type of thing right now?

[personal profile] boxmods is rife with pc and npc killers, although you might be iffy on that considering the gigantic wank explosion that just happened

and i don't know for sure, but maybe look into [community profile] maskormenace? i know it's got that "superheroes have to WIN ALL THE TIME and BEAT EVERYONE" comics stigma, and i can't say for sure since i wasn't around for the reboot, but people in cnc were very good about working with villains and killers and i know at least one of the mods played an actual serial killer for a period of time

[community profile] lastvoyages deals with the psychology of the criminal, serial killer as a subset. You do have to consider how they might be 'redeemed' as that's the function of the game and part of the app, but you don't have to redeem them until it feels in character to do so.

Murderous rampages happen and the likes of Arthas and Hannibal are in there already. Arthas has been there for years, so there's definitely no pressure to make a goody-goody out of your killer.

what's a good game for a thief character, anons? i want to play out the magpie that lives in my heart

What sort of skillset do they have, and what sort of genre and pacing do you prefer?

(Anonymous) 2014-04-04 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
Thief good enough to steal for fun and get away with it with accidental, poorly controlled god-like power to astrally project and occasionally bring other people into said astral projection. medium-slow pacing is best since i'm in a couple other games, genre is open, but prefer more plot and less SOL
