How about giving me some good/decent mecha anime. I really liked Valverave and Gurren Lagann, but it's impossible to find Inuzuka icons and I don't really have a desire to play anyone from GL. I'm sorry. My drill cannot pierce the heavens.

as for mecha anime suggestions, code geass, majestic prince, eureka seven, the macross series, and the aquarion series are some that i've really enjoyed! they're all veeery different from each other, though

I have to say, it's sort of strange that people actually know this. But yes, I have some here, and I'm more than willing to make more if you'd like. :)

Also seconding... all those series! MJP has a nice comical side to it, and don't let the silly faces put you off at first. I almost made that mistake and would have missed out on an excellent series.

Eureka Seven is 50 episodes, and I, for one, totally miss the longer mecha tales instead of having them crammed into 25 eps or so. The characters are great, and you really get a feel for their relationships and motivations and what not.

Macross is a spectacular series if you love mecha fights coupled with great music, because, who doesn't? The love triangles and SDF and Frontier makes me wibble and I love all sides to them. I haven't seen Macross 7 yet, but it's on my list.

And Aquarion is hilarious and corny, but sweet and touching at the same time. There's two: Genesis of Aquarion (the original) and Aquarion Evol (the sequel). You can go into Evol without knowing the original, as that's what I did. It does help to at least know the mythos behind it all. Teenagers performing orgies in giant robots with a 12,000 year old love nth sided shape is pretty great.

As for my own recommendations, I'll toss in mentions of Soukyuu no Fafner, Zegapain, Xam'd: Lost Memories, Full Metal Panic!, Rinne no Lagrange, and Star Driver. (There are probably more I can't think of right now)

Fafner is your normal formula of teenager piloting giant robots, but the spin I really like involves parents actually taking part in the plot and action, reasons why only said teens can pilot, and the bonds that form between them all. It's really well done in my opinion, but it can get pretty heavy and depressing. That wasn't a bad thing for me, but it's just a slight warning.

Zegapain isn't one I've seen mentioned at all really, but it's a pretty good show with a cool twist that I won't mention here. Worth a look, though.

Xam'd is wonderfully done, the animation is gorgeous and the relationships and character development is relatable and real. It takes a lot of inspiration from Ghibli, so if that's your thing, this should be on your list.

FMP is a lovely cross between humor, slice of life, military, mecha, sci-fi, romance and... other things. The main pair are humorous, but you can see the bonds that develop between them, and it's a nice thing to watch. Things aren't sci-fi over the top like they are in a lot of shows, so if you want something that's grounded more in "reality" (giant robots aside), this might work.

Rinne no Lagrange is a cute series about the friendship (or lesbian orgy depending on how you read it) of three teens from different planets who come together and pilot mechas to save the world and such. It's cute.

And Star Driver is a feel good series with giant robots piloted in another dimension by high schoolers who wear masks and costumes that look like Lady Gaga throw away designs. The main female ships her two guys friends/love interests, and it's great because it's so over the top and doesn't take itself too seriously.

Of course this got a little beyond what I initially intended, but oh well. I can't help loving me some mecha. ♥

obvious anon is gonna tentatively recommend Aquarion - it's extremely campy and over the top, and definitely not for everyone, but it's very fun with a lot of charming characters if it's your type of show. just don't take it too seriously. the first season (genesis of aquarion) is older and drags a lot in the middle, so it might be worth starting with the second season (aquarion evol) and then watching genesis if you enjoyed evol and want more. they're connected, you don't need to see one to understand the other.

-gunbuster and diebuster are classics! i prefer gunbuster personally but diebuster is quite good.

-both of patlabor's continuities are fun imo and i love noa ♥

-the brave series is lots of hot-blooded action - i'm quite fond of da-garn and gaogaigar is definitely similar to the feel of gurren lagann.

-i'm not a huge mazinger fan, but it's go nagai so it's bound to at least have sweet hair. it also doesn't fit classic pilot-from-the-inside tropes the way you might be familiar with up until mazinger z.

-getter robo is quite good imo.

-macross is somewhat uneven for me, but for the most part it's enjoyable!

-g gundam, if you're specifically looking for that over-the-top super robot feel.

-the rest of gundam is harder to navigate, because the feel is a little different, but i can try if you can tell me what you liked specifically?

-i liked eureka seven's first season and wouldn't both with the newer stuff.

Sounds to me like you want something over-the-top and dramatic in one direction or the other, so

Code Geass, G Gundam, Macross 7 (though beware the massive amounts of filler), GaoGaiGar.

For more serious plot Rah Xephon is a personal favorite of mine. But if you're looking for something a little dumb/silly/light hearted instead I was also pretty fond of Gravion.
