Do people who take orders get mad if you keep asking to make sure your food doesn't have certain nuts? Like the food comes with nuts but you keep asking to have them removed so you don't eat any. Is that obnoxious or do they understand?

browsing the tumblr tag "commissions" is a good place to start, although admittedly you will have to scroll a LOT past finished commissions, WIPs, and so on

I wish there were a better way to separate the action part of a tag from the dialogue than small text.

(And before anyone says "yeah, they're called quotation marks," my game uses action brackets, so I'm using action brackets.)

you can try putting a line break between dialogue and action? that's what i usually do, unless the action is really, really short.

I can't come up with a hook for this intro and it's really frustrating.

It's an intro log, not a network post, so I can't even really go the "character asks network at large a question" route. All I can come up with is "what character is thinking upon realizing they're not hallucinating."

???? does this sound like I'm supposed to select two classmates and post two comments to each of them equaling four comments? or just one for each classmate equaling two comments? I am not normally bad at reading comprehension, but the last sentence is really throwing me off.

help i'm turning into a flake

every time i pick up a character i can only hold onto them for about 3-4 months and when i reach 3 months it's like i hit a block and lose all motivation for them. generally for various different reasons but it's always at three months that's becoming a trend. i used to be able to play the same characters for years! i don't know what to do, i definitely don't want to be this way. i don't really like memes and memes are kind of hard to compare with games so sticking with those for three months first doesn't seem like it'll work for me. i'm not sure what else to do other than maybe switch to only playing ocs no one will care about anyway.

try to canon review when you're starting to lose steam?

also try to keep from being burned out, if you're living and breathing one character/fandom for three months you're gonna have to "flake out" on it after that time. stay away from kink memes, tons of fanfic, and fanart solely for that character/series. and tumblr. keep your interests varied or you're destined to burn out.

the tumblr format cut down on the number of annoying pedants crowning themselves king of shit hill and proceeding to be the arbiters of what's acceptable fandom activity and what's not

yes i know these still exist, but it seems like with so many people on tumblr all clamoring for attention, they mostly end up ignored except by their core group of rimmers

i'm looking for a bit of advice, anons. Not for a therapist, just advice so I can bring this up with a therapist, because I'm not sure where to begin when I'm not anonymous.

I struggle with thoughts of hurting myself. I'm not sure why, and it's not like it's a self-esteem thing. It's plain and simple curiosity. I use scissors to cut something and wonder what it'd feel like to be stabbed or cut with them, or what my sharp knife would feel like if I ran it across my arm, or what it would feel like if I held my hand in a candle flame. It's entirely just, "I wonder what X would feel like?" So I have trouble bringing it up, because it's not like I have any problems. I don't act on these thoughts, but it still bothers me that they're there.

So... How do I even go about talking about this with someone face-to-face? It's taken a long time to even admit it anonymously.

In my experience, therapists are usually the ones to ask if you've ever had thoughts of self-harm. They try to keep the ball in your court.

Dragons!- I've already read Temeraire and a good chunk of the Pern books.

oooor on a slightly more realistic bent, historical fiction, not of the romance-novel variety (I don't mind if there's a romance in it, but when it's the whole plot I can't really get into it.)

tmw you realize you really only have a limited capacity to be intimately familiar with only one canon at a time

and it makes you feel like less of an RPer when you try to branch out and you realize you can never be nearly as insightful as other people who are bigger into the other canons.

i want unlimited harddrive space in my brain so i can gush and headcanon and have insightful thought provoking discussions with everybody on an equal level.


bonus agony: your main canon that you could gush about infinitely is the one no one else is into.

Interesting fact, you do have (near) infinite headdrive space. It's just that the human system of organising your 'files' is dreadful and based on arbitrary connections instead of any real sort of order.

Just trick your brain into associating a canon with another stimulus (a certain music piece or sound, flavour or image etc.) and pretty soon you'll be able to recall it all at will!
