How many of you play characters with very distinct accents? And characters where it isn't obvious they have one (re: characters that are not Sherlock Holmes because everyone already knows he has one).

Do you mention it at all in tags? Say if you're interacting with someone for the first time, etc.

My character has one but the author writes his dialogue normally so it's never been necessary to mention. I want people to know but it just seems like bad writing to insert "he said, with a ___ accent" here and there.

Part of my characters characterization is his ridiculous accent, and he canonly is meant to be funny. He adds "old chap" and "mate" to the ends of sentences so I usually don't have to but I do try to let people know either ooc if were talking for the first time, or just by adding somewhere that his accent is rediculous. Just because it adds to the hilarity that is this character.

Anons I've been in denial a long time about my depression but I finally called my doctor today. I'm scared about zombifying drugs. I'm also scared about having to take them the rest of my life. Can depression ever be cured, or is it like herpes, where you can manage it and pretend it's not there but it always is?

Of course I'm going to ask my doctor all of this but I won't actually get in to see him for a few days. Can someone help me out so I know what I'm getting into?

antidepressants rarely actually "zombify" anyone, anon. sometimes the side effects can be weird or annoying (zoloft used to make my teeth chatter, for example) but that's normal! and sometimes you have to go through several different types of medication before you find the right one. don't lose hope if the first one you get prescribed doesn't work; you just need to go back to your doctor and explain your concerns, and usually they'll offer to change your prescription.

you don't even have to start out with antidepressants, though. personally i would recommend seeing a therapist and trying to work out a bunch of coping mechanisms rather than heading straight for the prescription. the same principle applies to therapists as to antidepressants, though. not every one is going to be right for you, and you might have to go through a few different therapists before you find someone you mesh with.

as for whether depression can be cured/taking drugs for the rest of you life, it varies case-by-case. for some people it can go away with time and effort, for others it's a matter of coping with and managing it, and for some other people they get better and go through occasional relapses. i was always told when i was prescribed antidepressants that i shouldn't think of them as a lifelong crutch, though. they're just there to help me on the road to eventual recovery, and i should work towards a future where i didn't need them.

depression is a difficult struggle, anon, but it isn't unbeatable. i wish you luck in your recovery. <3

so im just really excited about the game a friend and myself are working on so i wanna share a few fun facts with you guys (and maybe you guys can guess where it's set since it's based off of a popular old video game trilogy)

your character gets pulled in to help restore the world's magic
they get dropped in a lake when they arrive (KER-PLUNK from a whole in the sky)
they receive a companion npc who monitors your character's health and changes color when they get hurt
lots of magic involved, your character can actually gain abilities even if they come from a magic free canon

and some non canon related things
theres gonna be a mysterious over arching plot going on after the game gets big enough
the setting grows larger (aka locations "unlock" as more people join (but it doesn't shrink)
your character can live anywhere they want to (glaciers, floating islands, lava pits, you name it) and still keep in touch with their friends

i am just SUPER EXCITED for this okay, i've been bouncing around in my seat and wishing it was open and we're not close to done yet

Sorry nonnas, I thought I had bookmarked the very helpful post somewhere on rpanons about installing a version of DW_tools for FireFox.

I googled. I read the thread about how you can't google rpanons (afterwards ofc). I clicked desperately through multiple posts and I just can't find it.

Anyone have it on hand?
