So I sent one of my professors an anonymous email that very respectfully brought up some issues i had in his class regarding what I felt was a pushing of his moral stand point.

He decided to put it in his lecture, avoid all my actual concerns by addressing them as "I disagree" and made sure to point out the single spelling mistake I made.

Guess I'll just go back to putting my head down :(

What do you do if your drive for RP has completely shrivelled, but you and your RP partner still have a lot of plans for the game you're both in? I have five characters there. The problem is I only want to play with her characters, in the few times that I actually feel like RPing.

Basically, I just want to do PSLs now, rather than the whole HUGE CR WHEE TAG ALL THESE NEW CHARACTERS thing; I'm just over it. I can't get excited about that kind of RP any more. I think I'm just fading out of the hobby.

I just don't know how to break it to her, though. :\ Any advice, RPanons? Has this happened to any of you? I'm actually dreading having to look through my game tonight, and it just....bores me now.

So what makes an AU too AU? I've read through some where people just tweak a few things (this person died instead of this one) and then there are more extreme ones (no semblance of character personality left, completely different person).

I've been itching to write an AU where the characters remain the same personality wise, but the setting completely changes. Of course, I make sure everything lines up and that every detail in my AU has a canon counterpart so events in happen as they should (like Bob walks to the store in canon, but in my AU he rides his bike to the store--he still gets there but differently). But I was looking over all the info I amassed and I stopped...

Is this too much? I wanted to app my AU to a game because I'm having so much fun with it, but with all this new information, locations, and tweaks for weapons to work, is it still the same canon? I can recognize the characters, but is that all I should be able to recognize?

I worked so hard to keep personalities straight that I can't tell if I ruined every other part of it.

Whats important is that you can justify every change to the character's motivations and personality as a result of your AU. There is no 'too AU' as such - just poorly-thought out AUs.

spoke to an old rp partner about how i feel like we've drifted a lot since they quit rp, ended up with a long talk about how we both bear some of the responsibility for it and what we're both up to now

feels good, man. i hope this keeps up and we don't just immediately fall back into not talking to eachother for months because we don't need to coordinate for rp

when looking at the comms for a game, do you prefer ones in keeping with a theme (like what games like asgard and exitvoid have) or simply just game/game_logs/game_ooc?

personally i prefer the former, but i know some people find it really unwieldy and/or pretentious
