I'm starting to wonder if people just...don't actually like playing with me. They come to me saying they want CR and we should do this and this, but when I make a plotting plurk (I usually list any ideas I have or mention whether or not I have concrete plans) or have an idea like "oh, I'm thinking of having my character do something like this, anyone want in?"...nothin.'

I know venting here instead of just asking them makes me a whiny tittybaby, but...I feel like it's hard to ask about this kind of thing without sounding like I'm looking for cozies and asspats.

making a plurk and expecting other rpers to come to you is like throwing a hello into a cafeteria and hoping someone replies with an invitation to their table

pp people directly, notif them in the plotting plurk, private message their character journals, whatever. you're going to get a lot more reaction if you try and get a reply directly rather than posting some plurk and hoping your friends aren't going to automute because it doesn't apply to them DIRECTLY

we're lazy, anon. if you want something, you're going to have to spoon feed the initial information

Anons! Which memes do you like to see posted at your games? How spread out do you think they should be?

All the meme posters at one of my games left so lately there haven't been many and I'd like to fix that, but I'm pretty new at this so I'd love some input...

I tend to like Heart Meter, Headcanon/Question and Answer, and music-themed memes. And love memes are always good to toss in when the game's events and players are on a good roll - just post the climax of a fun plot and so on, and AU memes can be very fun on occasion.

have any tips for an acceptance worthy personality section?

when you watch a character it's their actions, words and thoughts that lead you to believe they possess a certain trait. when in doubt, don't just say "bob is very optimistic, and he's good at keeping people's hopes up"; show the reader what bob does that makes you think that. think about how bob might step up with his cheerfulness, his approach to helping others, if he does it sincerely or in a more lighthearted manner, which circumstances can get in the way of that, whether he's successful, stuff like that.

you get a basic idea of a character from something they do, so don't just describe them, build them into the character they are.

paradisa's basic personality guide is also pretty helpful. motivations, morals, fears, goals, etc - they're always fun to look into and can even give you a better grip on what shapes more facets of your character.

Anons, I'm sad.

My favorite game went through a horrible slow patch so I tried my best to get some new people into the game. A couple of them got in, but now there are reserves sitting and waiting and apps going unchecked for almost a week because none of the mods are around anymore, not even to open mod apps so I can help my game. The only one who is there is flakey and never does modwork. I just want the game to live. :(

my whole plurk list seems to have... died. people are updating but much slower and barely anyone has replies. is something weird going on with the site? this all seems to have happened in correspondence with the "oh no plurk is defriending people/acting dumb" thing but i didn't pay much attention to that.

i need to manually refresh a lot to see all the replies I'm getting, and sometimes it takes me to all my unread plurks, then sometimes it'll randomly take me to my own or the ones i've responded to without me clicking those tabs
