I'd love to develop a female only space opera without a focus on sex.

A space agency takes jobs to aid planets in need, mediate, and enforce peace between peoples. The ship on which the game takes place is charged with gathering a list of rare materials needed to save the star of one of the solar systems in their care. Every other month, the ship would land on a planet and explore the new setting to find the needed material. Each planet would have its own challenges, whether it's the environment, the people, or the need to solve an issue there before attaining the material.

In space and on the planets there could be an antagonistic company or pirate-like organization trying to steal the rare materials that they are trying to gather to save the star.

Most importantly, the female-only crew is just a company policy to prevent children from being born in the dangerous environment which will help the female relationships on the ship seem more organic and less forced.

The jam-jar aspect is explained that there were qualities within the character that the agency felt would help their mission. Due to the level of urgency of the mission, they can not return those who want to go back until the mission is complete. Those who drop disappear due to an error in the transporting system.

Suggestions? Volunteers?

Absolutely! Those sorts of characters would be very beneficial since they could be the ones helping to train and explain to the new characters and may have their own special training for their jobs.

I like this. I really like this. I don't think I'd have the ability or time to be an effective mod, but if this ever comes to fruition I'd want nothing more to help as much as possible. I know that's not really saying much since you're going to need another mod or two, but I think your ideas can go a long way. You've covered a lot of the bases I was concerned about when trying to think up on how the game would work.

Just know that at least this anon is willing to stand by you as this happens.

You're probably going to get a lot of "I can't mod, but I really like this," (like I just did; I'm the anon you replied above) because a lot of people are already busy with other games or RL. Honestly it's understandable (because I'm sort of in that situation) but if you come to the point where the only thing keeping you back is a Co-Mod, and you're truly hard pressed I'll step up. Originally I wasn't going to say this because, like I said before, I can be short and spotty on availability, However I don't want this game to get shelved because it's lacking one thing. Can't guarantee I'll be any good (due to availability and inexperience), but my offer is here.

what an incredibly fun idea! the only thing i'd really want to suggest so far is to incorporate the space station idea to change things up once in a while?

i can volunteer as a sounding board and help out in setting it up but my schedule is way too erratic for the time being for me to be able to commit myself as a mod. like the above anon though i really want to see this idea come to fruition!

This sort of reminds me of the anime Bodacious Space Pirates. Which was an awesome space opera like show with a good bit of yuri undertones / had a canon couple in it affect the main plot of the story.

I'd be all for it, I've been dieing for a good space game and something to suit female characters.

forget them, it was one of the most fun times I had watching anime this year. it was refreshing to see ladies kicking ass like that and the way it handled the surprise it's lesbians subarc was pretty cute and tasteful. it is a much needed and refreshing series and i am glad it exists.

Yeah, okay, this sounds pretty cool.

I don't know that I can volunteer for much, but I would be willing to try to help come up with some settings or something.

My one concern is with the settings it might be heavy on the NPC-modding people from the planets, and that in my experience sometimes it's better to avoid that.

I'd like to tentatively offer to help modding! I have no idea how much spare time I'll have between classes and working full time, but I'm excited enough by the game to give it a shot. I think I'd do best handling something like maintaining the FAQ and suggestions page.

Regardless as to whether you want me on board as a long-term mod or not, I'd love to help develop the setting. Ranks and positions on the ship, background on the company, ship layout, etc

After lots of thought, I've decided not to pursue this idea and keep focusing on my current game.

The idea is free for anyone to take and make their own. Thanks to everyone who volunteered and those who supported the idea. I hope this sort of game does come out one day.
