I have ten. At the moment I'm not actively playing any of them but I do develop their stories every now and then.

I have way more fun playing the fandom OCs and DWRP games aren't very welcoming to them

I guess everyone will assume I'm playing Loki's Long Lost Mary Sue Sister because they had one bad experience of someone playing a shitty fandom OC like that. I hate those fandom OCs just as much, but I've also played with some really great ones. I wish games/players would give them more of a chance or make clear rulings to snuff out the shitty fandom OCs (like, no direct relation to any main/established characters, etc).

Hi, silly newbie question here!

When setting up a journal, is it preferable to turn off IP logging? It's on by default, but while I was looking for icons it seemed to be split about 50-50 whether IP logging would be off or not. It doesn't really seem like a big deal to me, but does leaving it on have any connotations? Because the strangest things had the strangest connotations in the forum I came over here from and I don't want to commit some sort of faux pas so early on.

hi newbie!

the main reason people care about IP logging is if they're looking to leave anonymous crit on your journal HMD (a very rarely-used RP feedback post).

but tbh, it's very hard to accurately track anyone from IP, especially with the ease of VPNs and IP-swaps these days. and very rarely is anyone nuts enough to stalk someone from it.

so if you do something majorly wanky, someone might complain about how you have ~IP-logging on so they can't leave crit~. otherwise no one will care. enable or disable it at your own discretion.

good luck! dreamwidth gets bent out of shape about a lot of arbitrary things -- you'll find it's not very different from forum rp that way. try not to worry about it, you'll learn the conventions over time and anyone worth playing with won't be upset at you about them.
