Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

mystery/dangan ronpa-esque game set on the ancient island of sen mo jama. characters are kidnapped to the island and every week someone dies. could be a player character, could be an NPC, you just don't know. find the stalker in the shadows before you too are claimed by the mist, and watch out for those wacky natives! they'll kill your cute puppy before you ever even get a chance to post to the TikiNetâ„¢ with it because they hate stupid slice of life too.

also there's a bunch of crazyass island gods running around and sometimes they throw sweet nude parties on the beach in between blood sacrifices. yep.

spoilers: you are already dead and the island is purgatory

a game that doesn't take itself too seriously and is more slice of lifey but with killing aliens, you know. i think an au would work best (your character is revived by their ghost) but non-au could work too.

i'd love a destiny game but tbh i'd want to play my own guardian with other guardians, not fandom character implants

i think offering the choice between AU and OU would be best. OU characters can just as easily be summoned by ghosts from their own universes and charged with being guardians. AUs and Destiny OCs revive as normal. also probably allow AUs and OCs as non-guardian characters to just do SOL in the city, though idk how much interest there'd be in that.

but basically i think allowing OUs would be best because not everybody plays Destiny or would be willing to app into a canon-specific game where they need to play a canon-specific character. fandom transplants would allow for a larger playerbase imo.

i feel like there isn't enough fantasy games on dreamwidth. i know a lot of people play characters that have a lot of weird fantasy elements to their characters, but just can't seem to find a place to roleplay them out. i'd really like to start a new roleplay, and i have some ideas of what i'd want, but i'd like the overall setting to be very fantasy, no power-loss as that just seems to suck most of the time anyways.

anyone wanna start one?

eachdraidh takes place in a fairy world and is pretty much medieval/fantasy as a setting.

that said, i'd love to see more games like it.

i don't have the time to mod anything but i would app to a game like this so fast because most of my characters are fantasy types and i hate playing them in sci-fi or futuristic games.

I made an attempt at a fantasy elemented game but I never got the chance to get it off the ground because of time restraints and a lack of dedicated mods to assist.

That said, I think each does a great job with its premise and I would also like to see more.

game set in a surreal hotel the characters can't leave but can explore

not a horror, but the rules of reality don't quite work the same way. landscape paintings in the hotel might conceal secret passageways, portraits have spy-holes in the eyes, the buffet always has food no matter how much you take

maybe some magical realism stuff too? If you get upset and start crying, your tears will fill the room, when you eat something really spicy you actually breathe fire

the game starts with the main lobby and restaurant and one floor of rooms, but the main doors are locked and if you ask any of the staff they say they've lost the keys on one of the upper floors. But the upper floors are a mess, and characters have to complete weird and strange tasks or missions in order to get through

new floors would have other rewards too, like the swimming pool or souvenir shop (where all the items would have weird magical or practical purposes), or lockers that just happen to have items from home

I think this could be really cool, especially if you SUPER play up the weird/surreal. Like maybe instead of secret passages, painting are little mini worlds the players can explore for a goal. Like...you need to go into starry starry night and steal the moon or some shit idk.

Have a mix of like fantasy and adventure and whimsical and horror altogether with events changing the feeling here and there.

And the hotel being endless and sprawling.

Once this season clears up a bit more i want to build a yugioh au game

Dimensional wars means you all don't have to lump up in Domino city, Heartland, Academia, or Maiami city.

Inital decks can be based off weaker archetypes/random cards (subject to change if the game gets off the ground so that newer players aren't at a disadvantage.) Cards can be kept hidden from other players until people D-d-d-d-duel, but the mods would have a tally of who has what.

Pro: Allowing mixing and matching of archetypes/cards for a more customizable deck in the beginning.

Cons : Doing it would be a pain

Boosters done via rng and what dimension (if gone that route)

Pros: Actually random cards
Cons: Separate lists

Pro of the game: Something lighthearted and fun and silly
Con of the game: The yugioh crazies

Similar to the Destiny AU idea above, I'd really kill just to have more space exploration elemented games in general, without the horror attached. Not to say there couldn't be horror involved, but something like CDC's general feel (ie: going to different planetary missions complete with fauna etc) would be nice.

I'm in CDC now, but I'm realizing that playing my character type there is very difficult because they don't lend themselves well to the sort-of strict big brother mechanic they have

i'm one of the anons that was wallowing in nostalgia in the T9 thread in games discussion and while i agree that it should be left for dead, i really liked some of its basic structure and would love to see it implemented successfully in another sci-fi game:

1) there were opportunities for action on the ship (which served as a home base for characters to return to between missions) and off it, characters visited other planets for missions that both contributed to the gamewide plot and provided opportunities for individual character growth

2) there was an overall structure to the game and certain goals that needed to be met but the players were given a lot of leeway for how to proceed, which led to some interesting choices (things like the shipwide government and constitution led to some bullshit OOC but i thought it was genuinely interesting how they arose more or less organically through player incentive)

3)the players' characters were expected to take an active role in the running of the ship built on a general organizational framework that was laid out by the mods (ie filling out the different departments like engineering, security, medical, rogue squadron etc)

also there was a lot of despair and drama and tension but the overall mood of the game was generally optimistic rather than "you're all going to go insane and then be eaten by space zombies" or whatever (which is personal preference, a lot of people like survival horror i guess but i wish there was a space game without it)

for all its failings i think T9 had a lot of strong points and i would be so goddamn happy if those could be used in another game that learned from T9's mistakes and didn't become a horrifying clusterfuck of wank

it was made but it didn't last very long, iirc.

and nothing would make it successful, probably, considering how crazy the core fandom (and thus playerbase) for fate/ tends to be. you'd need a solid team behind it at the very least and you'd still see similar butthurt like cdc's if you used a team-based premise a la holy grail war.

except it would be even worse. see: above fandom issues.

F/F AU game?

I really want to start up another F/F centric game, ala the old Queen of Hearts RP. But every time I think of something I'm worried it'll just go up in flames like past efforts in the field have.

Also transgender wank. Why does it come up every time the topic of female character only game is brought up? How many people would seriously app a transgender character?

That aside, maybe just doing an AU game would be best to avoid some of those issue. Maybe have a female only universe with some kind of scientific and/or magical reason the population doesn't just die off in one generation?
