Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

as long as lust and gluttony are given their broader interpretations instead of just "sex" and "food"

makes it easier to assign "lust" and "gluttony" to people

anyway I thought of that but I can't think of shit for half the sins (pride, sloth, gluttony) to actually do

especially sloth

which is based around NOT doing shit I believe (I know cowardice falls under sloth, but anyway)

---

but then maybe it could be based on eastern demon stuff instead since "jama" is a buddhist thing

any anons around that know eastern demon stuff?

Lust is actually a really strong desire, not just for sex but power, life, knowledge...Gluttony is the same but it's a desire for over-consumption so it could be related to anything people over indulge in including sex, drugs, or other addictive substances.

I see them slightly differently but yes, much more broad than just food and sex

sloth isn't necessarily 'not doing shit,' it's 'not doing what you should be doing'

for instance, a character who shirked their duty would fit under sloth, even if they still did tons of things during the course of their canon - just not what they should have been doing, what they were meant to do.

there ya go then

but like if we're basing it on their wish instead of just their actions

then a wish like "hey, get me out of this duty/quest/promise I made" would be slothful?

(Anonymous) 2014-12-26 05:55 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it would be by my estimate. Something they should be doing, but aren't.

Sloth also covers depression and the lack of motivation.

oh those wacky Catholics, turning depression into a sin

Pride is basically an excessive belief in one's own abilities, and also vanity. Honestly, this is going to be more of a personality sort of deal because there are definitely characters who think they are far better than they actually are.

well like I said

it can always be based on eastern demon stuff instead
