Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

game set in a surreal hotel the characters can't leave but can explore

not a horror, but the rules of reality don't quite work the same way. landscape paintings in the hotel might conceal secret passageways, portraits have spy-holes in the eyes, the buffet always has food no matter how much you take

maybe some magical realism stuff too? If you get upset and start crying, your tears will fill the room, when you eat something really spicy you actually breathe fire

the game starts with the main lobby and restaurant and one floor of rooms, but the main doors are locked and if you ask any of the staff they say they've lost the keys on one of the upper floors. But the upper floors are a mess, and characters have to complete weird and strange tasks or missions in order to get through

new floors would have other rewards too, like the swimming pool or souvenir shop (where all the items would have weird magical or practical purposes), or lockers that just happen to have items from home

I think this could be really cool, especially if you SUPER play up the weird/surreal. Like maybe instead of secret passages, painting are little mini worlds the players can explore for a goal. Like...you need to go into starry starry night and steal the moon or some shit idk.

Have a mix of like fantasy and adventure and whimsical and horror altogether with events changing the feeling here and there.

And the hotel being endless and sprawling.
