I regret not changing degrees after realizing it wasn't what I wanted to do with my life. It's not even a degree I can get a job with, so now I'm in debt 30 grand and have no job prospects beyond working retail.

Anime anons, help me out here. Is the concept of an indirect kiss (Ex: drinking from a can of soda someone else just drank from) unique to Japanese media? I'd never heard of it before I started watching anime but TV tropes has a bunch of Western examples listed, but they seem to be pretty different in tone; like, kissing through a plastic sheet is different than putting your mouth on this thing your crush had their mouth on.

I'm asking because it's being brought up in a thread and, as my character is a teen from a western country, I'm trying to figure out if it's common enough in western media that they should know it.
